Great podcast today Jon. I feel much the same as you do. My question being you have stated numerously that you felt Lick would FOR SURE be here next year. Are you wavering at all on that stance? Is there anything you have heard or know that you could relay to this subject? Alot of even the Lick supporters are becoming more and more critical everyday. I just wonder if you or anyone knows whats going on behind closed doors with players, athletic dept., boosters, etc. that may shed light if this is closer to the end then many are being led to believe.

I don't know how JM will answer but I can tell you my answer. I am actally about 10 years older than JM and my memories go back to the Ralph Miller teams with Downtown Freddy Brown, Johnny Johnson & Kevin Kunart. I love Iowa Bball and not unlike Jon Iowa Bball was my first love.

I was a huge Mr. Davis fan and was truly bummed the day he left (after going to the Sweet 16...remember?). I was very excited for both the arrival AND departure of Steve Alford. I've been in TL's corner all the way up to about a week ago. Now, I'm ready for him to go. It just feels wrong. I'm sure TL is a great guy and all of that. I just don't think he relates well to the kids, his "system" doesn't translate to the fans and in the last 3 rodies we been trounced by huge amounts. I'm worried the players hate being here. There's just nothing left to hang your hat on. We have a good class coming in but if he can't keep the players he has now I feel strongly that he needs to go.

I'm more of a reader in here and don't have a lot of posts. My point is that I'm part of the "silent majority" and I think TL is losing that side of his support system. It's time for him to move on.

I think the next card to be played is really by the players and they have several options --

1. Privately talk to the AD about concerns/position with the program
2. Transfer
3. Publicly support Lick to try and get some fans back

If they do nothing then I don't think Lick has the personality & connections to attempt to rebuild the preception of Iowa Basketball.

I think 1 & 2 are much more likely than 3.

I think after the last 2 games Lick has lost a lot of the supporters he had earlier in the year. He may have a great/good class coming in next year, but you know what so do other schools and the 4 coming in won't score 27 and 35 points between them to make up the differences we saw in the last 2 games.

I remember as a kid laying next to the old am radio in my bedroom and listening to Glen the Stick and Chad Calabria and have loved the Hawks ever since. It is sad to say that I can watch all the games on tv now and the last couple of years I have slowly lost the desire to watch this mess.. I hope we return to being a competitive team to watch soon. It makes the winters more tolerable......

I have a feeling that if ANY of the current players transfer, he gone.
I have a feeling that if he gives the open scholly to his kid, he gone.
I have a feeling that if we get blown out by 25+ tomorrow, he gone.
I have a feeling that if any of the current commits try get out of their LOI, he gone.

I don't think that he is gone if none of the above play out. I posted a few weeks back that unless a top level recruiter is available and already under contract with Iowa then we wait one more year with Lick at the helm, save the $500k in buy-out $, complete the practice facility and then we move on.

I really don't think anything is going to save Lick at Iowa at this point, but I do think that $ is going to be a contributing factor in when he is fired. $500k / year is a lot of coin. I'm sure that the powers that be are factoring the loss in revenue from ticket sales, concessions and comparing it to the $500k per year + the cost of hiring a new coach.

It is not people I disagree with. It is people who don't understand what is going on even after it has been explained to them 1000 times. Do we really need another thread on this topic? Does it really need to be discussed again? Does Jon Miller really need to explain this to all of you every day?

I wasn't being a horses ***. I was facepalming in disgust. I hardly ever come to this board anymore because it has become the same crap everyday. Today is just the day I snapped...

Same here. Loved that AM radio. I would almost set my schedule around Hawkeye basketball. Now I am not even sure when they play. 1987-88 season Hawks were in Hawaii. Game was on something like 2:00am our time. I watched the game and went to work at 6:00am. I drove 330 miles to Wisky game last Wed. Luckily I had a suite so I could drink beer. Would have never guessed 20 years ago we would be getting sympathy from Wisky fans. Talked to a family member of one of the hawks better players. They were not sure what Lick was doing. Shot clock violation 25 points down. Unbelievable. Barta was sitting behind Hawk bench in front of suite I was in. wanted to say something to him, but did not know what to say. Plus a few too many beverages.

Seriously Ghost. Doesn't it get old being a smart a$$ all the time? Enlighten us with some real knowledge of basketball or grow up already. The fact I can read every thread on the first page right now and you have nothing but sarcasm to add in everyone of them is tiring.
