Question about Mike Stoops

Anybody know his recruiting strengths? Maybe regions he does well in, do kids love him, maybe he could brings some recruits with him. Not sure if already talked about but what kind of defense "would" we see?

I ask this, cuz in my mind he is our DC. :D
 


i believe he would be a recruiter in Texas and the SW maybe California
and that would be a very good thing
as we have no real prescence in California

Although I wish this would be the case, it simply will never happen with KF at the helm. Phil Parker or Wilson don't get you pumped up? Wilson & Parker have run special teams since 2005 and we know how that has worked out. Our special teams have been terrible since Norm gave up ST for health reasons. One of them will get the job based on doing nothing but running Norm's D.
 


It is confusing, because you'd think Mike Stoops would be brought up for more coaching vacancies. If it were me as head coach I would of had someone in mind for a couple years now, Mike being head coach at Zona probably means Kirk hasn't considered him till as of late.
 


can you please get the duties straight
Norm Parker was the LB's coach and the DC
Phil Parker was the DB's coach
Wilson was the ST's coach
when Norm took a pay cut and a reduction in duties
Wilson took over as the LB's coach and half of his ST's duties was given to Erb who coaches RB's
if you notice the decline in ST's and LB's started shortly after this occurred
Norm Parker never handled ST's duties
this is one of the reason's i am not confident in making Wilson a DC at this time

I agree with this. There is definite precedent that has been set in the past that every time Ferentz replaces a coordinator, he does so from within. He doesn't hire the right person when he hires new coordinators because he feels compelled to be loyal. That's what he has done every time he has had to replace a coordinator in the past, so I'm sure that's what he'll do in the future, even if it clearly isn't in the best interests of the football program. ;)

I believe you are being facetious here, but just in case or for those that can’t tell. KF has never replaced a coordinator at Iowa. He has replaced Joe Philbin on OL with Reese Morgan and that has worked well.

He has replaced Ron Aiken with Kaz and that too has worked well.

And he has replaced Carl Jackson with Eric Campbell at that has been stellar.

So yes I can see why our fans (rocket scientists and objective detectives that they are) would be oh so worried about who KF hirers, because clearly he has never done a good job before.

Oh wait the conservative, tired, stale thing that everyone in America says when their team loses….yep I got ya.
