Brecht is a prototypical X for us...big, fast, great ball skills. I don't see any way he is not a big part of this offense in the future.
Each year Iowa has major emphasis areas in recruiting. For awhile it wasn't WR because they really liked what they had in Smith, ISM, and Cooper (remember, he played as a true fresh). It's not like they weren't trying to get more great WR in the interim, but based upon what was available and finite recruiting resources, they just didn't make huge pushes in that area.
I think they really prioritized the position for this year's class (starting about 3 years ago). Bruce, Johnson, and Brecht could not be any more tailor-made for Iowa's X, Z, and slot positions. They are a more polished, talented version of Smith, ISM, and Cooper. Judging by recruiting stuff, these guys seem tight. I think they are going to want to stick together and take Iowa's passing game to strange new places.
If they can find an effective QB (Hogan/Labas/May) that syncs up with them eligibility-wise, I think these guys will re-write some records.
My glasses are also black-and-gold-tinted, and my glass is always half-full.

Do they still make Steak Ums? They reminded me of lamb meat but not half as good.
