QB situation

Exactly. How helpful might it have been to still have Christensen--if even just for the rest of the first half--against NW after Stanzi went down in 2009? How healthy could CJB have been in 2016 if JR had been there in relief, at least partially, in 2015 when CJB got banged up? It's not like CJB had huge passing stats against NW, for instance.

Part of the reason, IMO, that JR left was because CJB was named the starter and it "appeared" as a fait accompli, with no real hope of competing for the job. Coupled with the media treatment/headlines from CJBs dad, not to mention the fact GD was his OC, it was probably a huge breath of fresh air. Still, treated a little differently, he MAY have stayed around. It worked out well for him, but CJB was never the same after Pitt, and he never got a chance to get healthy/closer-to-healthy.

Well, in Jake's defense, he was a 2-year starter. Its not like CJ and Jake were both sitting on the bench the year before CJ was named the starter. In Jake's mind he should not have been benched. I don't agree with that, but I can see why he reacted the way he did. And he already had hus degree, so why not look around?

As stated above I think it has always been Stanley but with that I think with some of the talent behind KF wants to give everyone a fair shake and give them a chance to compete. I also think that helps Stanley stay focused and play up to his potential. It would not surprise me if the first couple games we jump out to a big lead, some other guys get in for a few possessions to see what they can do. The other big factor that we don't see everyday is how the team rallies behind each guy. There could be a difference there as well..

It also keeps Tyler from transferring. Stanley should be the guy, unless, Tyler is heads and shoulders ahead of Nate.

<<{S}o why not look around?>>

I agree, he absolutely had good reason to. But if he had been given the impression the job was still "winnable", not sure he would have left.
