QB room

I watched Tim Lester's video yesterday and one of the questions that ws asked was whether or not he would consider bringing in a 5th AB with the departure of Brendan Sullivan. He said that if he found a QB that was a good fit he would consider brining him in.

I'm in hawkcentral and check headlines after the video and there's an article that the Hawks have gotten a commitment for that 5th QB, Jeremyh Hecklinski, transfer from Wake Forest, where his OC last year as a true freshman was new offensive analyst Warren Ruggiero. Boy howdy, that seemed awfully fast.

Turns out Hecklinski is a real gunslinger. As a senior in the Atlanta area, he threw for 50 TDs with only 6 interceptions. The article says he 6'0" so kind of on the short side, probably really only 5"10", not sure why height is never true. But there you have it, we do have 5 in the room.

An interesting trivia fact is that of the 5 QBs in the room now, only Jackson Stratton has a snap as a Hawkeye. Worrisome?

Yeah it's an interesting addition bringing in Hecklinski. He's also got 4 yrs to play as opposed to Brenden having been a senior. Clearly they are all in on Gronkowski staying healthy and being the man all yr hopefully it plays out that way.

Next yr it'll be a 3 horse race for the Qb job. Lester said good things about Brown so he probably has the inside track for it with this new kid and Jimmy Sullivan being the other 2. I wonder if at this time next yr how many of those 3 stick around. Qb rooms are just revolving doors it seems like

What I see is a competent OC who is not taking any chances on the most important position on the field. The Deacon Hill days are over. This is the best QB room in the KF era. Experience and developmental guys.

Piggybacking off this…I don’t want to turn this into another ‘shit on Brian Ferentz’ thread, but you can see what Lester is doing with the quarterback room, and immediately recognized Brian was over his head when it came to the QB spot.

Even when KOK came back from the Dolphins, and had a huge influence on the quarterbacks they were bringing in…the guys they were bringing in and their development wasn’t there.
