Purdue versus Iowa prediction thread

Before I make a prediction for the Purdue game on Sunday I want to apologize to Hawkeye Nation, the Iowa coaches and players. My comments on Thursday's game were pathetic. I'm embarrassed to say that I sounded like a cyclone fan. We've hit a tough stretch. We aren't getting beat by bad teams but they are teams that we are capable of being. That being said my comments were out of the frustration that I was feeling. I thought we were going to take that next step up the ladder and be a consistent top 10 team. We've taken a step back but now I think we're going to take a step forward and it's possible before this season is over we may look at our 3 losses in a row as being a good thing that made us refocus and then went on to bigger things like deep runs in the Big 10 tournament and NCAA tournament. Prediction time, IOWA 81 Purdue 56. Let's bring it Iowa!!!

That's pretty much where I'm at too. I do think the team will bounce back with a 81-69 win.

I think the coaching staff got through to the team this week watching game film & as a team seen just how poorly they were playing defence. They are embarassed by how bad they played & come out with a chip on there shoulder, smack Purdue in the mouth & get a win. Hawks 83 Purdue 69

The pain continues Iowa 78 Purdue 83. Now its just my prediction so don't hate, didn't mean to be negative on a so far feel good thread. I hope I'm wrong if that helps....

There is no line on this game still. Does Purdue have an injured player? Either way I think we'll see a much better defensive effort today. It might not be pretty but I think the hawks will get a much needed win. 71-61

This is one of the most snake bitten teams in America with KenPom ranking their bad luck at 340 of 350 teams. This is epically unfortunate, teams/players have yogi farrelled iowa in the last 3 outings. Statistically, this will turn around. Everything has been coming up 'tails' and soon the odds will begin to even out.

I still see this team running into the B1G finals and making run into E8.

Hawks-78... B'Makers-70, closer than we would like, but we get off the schneid & get the "W".......oh, and Wisconsin gets nipped @ PSU, as well as the O$U @ Indiana.....

I just want to know if the Hawks are in white or gold today?

The answer will tell me all I need to know.

Sorry for the cut-n-past but already taken care of the Purdue prediction, as well as the next 3 weeks' predictions ...http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/...g-now-hawks-will-beat-purdue.html#post1274154

It has been predicted, it has been written, it shall be ...

-- Iowa beats Purdue, is crushed at MSU, beats Illannoy -- all by double digits (that part is new).

-- Iowa is #5 seed in BTT, beats whoever Thursday, eeks out win over fOSU (basically the same sort of "underachieving" season as Iowa, except, they suck on offense, not defense) on Friday, but get Gopherized by Michigan on Saturday.

-- They finish 5-5 last 10 regular, 5-5 last 10 overall, still earn a #6 seed in the NCAA.

-- Most importantly, based on the soul-searching comments from coach and players, they refocus and regain enough mojo in the BTT to still make it to the second weekend of the dance. Yes, they get bombed out of the tournament by Creighton in the sweet-16 but it's a satisfying enough finish to call the season a success and get excited about the progression of the program.

MARK ... IT ... DOWN and bask in the awesomeness of my oraculous prophetic abilities.

I don't know why Vegas hasn't had the line up, but offshore has had it Iowa -14.5 since yesterday. No, that is not a typo. But yes it seems crazy.

If Iowa wins 2 of the next 3, I think Iowa gets the 4 seed in the BTT. OSU needs to win out in order for that not to happen. Iowa owns tie breakers over Neb and OSU.

For today, I will guess... Iowa 77, Purdue 67

Purdue is good at home. If it was on their court I would predict a loss. Hawks struggle but grind out a 7 point win. Hawks 78, Purdue 71
