Purdue to Music City Bowl almost a done deal

I live in Nashville and it looks like the Purdue to Music City Bowl is almost a done deal.

Music City is probably going to go B1G instead of ACC, and go with 6-6 Purdue and not 7-5 Sparty.
(Trust me, last year, they looked hard at 7-5 Iowa over 9-3 Northwestern.
If Iowa, simply, beat Purdue last year to be 8-4, I'm almost 100% sure that Iowa would've been in Nashville last year, instead of that sheet of ice in New York)

Even if Ohio State makes the CFP, via Georgia and Oklahoma loss, the Music City Bowl would be Purdue.
Then, it’s probably NW (Citrus), Sparty (Outback) and Iowa (Holiday).

I just don't see the Outback taking Iowa over Northwestern. Iowa has been there a lot recently and NW beat Iowa and won the Big Ten West.

Agreed. They earned it with the 8-1 conference record, compared to our 5-4 record.
I, mainly, looked at the 5 teams in 6 years with both Iowa and NW being in there, once.

Of course, if both Georgia and Oklahoma lose, than Ohio State slips into the CFP and that changes everything.

They could maybe bump up NW to the Citrus and PSU down to the Outback. Then Iowa can go to the Holiday.

Only wrench I see thrown in NW's plans is that they'll likely have a 5th loss, and Iowa is much more likely to bring lots of fans compared to them

From a business view, yes, but the 100% draft order of bowls is gone.
If it was, we would be playing in the Citrus.

Feel that with the B1G more involved with selection, that they will not allow a Iowa team who went 5-4 in conference to pass a Northwestern team that went 8-1 in conference.

With the Music City Bowl heavily leaning Purdue, a lot of the other dominoes can be temporarily placed.

No one wants to watch NW play football, even at their own stadium.
I do. If they're playing the Hawks I can carpool with a buddy and get a damn good ticket for $13. :) Pack a cooler full of sammiches, stay at a motel outside the city, and between two people with gas you can do it for $100 each and have a blast.

And then when half their fans leave at halftime I can move down right behind the Hawks' bench. NW and Illinois are two of the best values in the B1G if you're a Hawks fan and want to take your kids to experience an away game. For less than twenty bucks a piece you can eventually get your kids to a front row seat. It'd cost you a couple hundred at Kinnick.

NW will still have shitty attendance even though they're decent because no one cares about football there.

Living the dream dude. I've never been to Evanston but I definitely need to. I've only been the The Shoe, MN's old dome and new joint, Nebraska's dump and a handful of bowl games outside of Kinnick. NFL stadiums is a different story.

See you in Tampa for the 6th time in 14 years.
NW has never been in the Holiday Bowl.
This is year 5 of 6 of the select 5 different teams in 6 years.
Iowa started it after 2014 and probably will be there on Jan 1, 2019.
Probably Miss State and their fans will travel and the O/U will be around 13.

I agree think Iowa will be in Tampa against Mississippi State or Texas A@M. If Northwestern is to be picked for Tampa than Iowa/Oregon in San Diego.

In a perfect world, in-season accomplishments would lend to a logical cascade of post-season bowl opportunities.
I.e. the better you performed, the more prestigious game you got with commensurate payoff.

Pffft.....the bowl picture (sans big-6 bowls) is nothing more than a money grab.
He who travels better gets a better bowl. He who doesn't, suffers.

On the field attributes be damned.
