Purdue is crushing the Hoosiers

They look like they have a bunch of 4-rated stars on the court tonight.

Anyway, they are playing with very high emotion, something I'd like to see from Iowa this Saturday.

People get so carried away with the "we had no business losing to that team" and "we have no chance against that team" talk. College basketball is too day to day to say things like that. Especially when you're a middle of the pack team who isn't much worse than the best team in the conference (other than Wisconsin), and aren't much better than the worst team in the conference.

Maybe Purdue wasn't that bad of a loss. Their RPI is 82, and 13-8 overall record. Not great, but not quite bottom feeder material, either. If they keep playing well, they could play their way into NCAA bubble conversations.

I don't consider it a bad loss...on the road to a top 100 team. Syracuse is also top 100 and on a neutral court. The other 5 losses are to top 50 teams.

But we need to add to our win ledger. Losing no more than 1 home game the rest of the way is a good start (9-4). Winning the road games at NW and PSU is a must (11-4). Winning at least 1 out of 3 on the road against Michigan, Nebraska and Indiana isn't necessary but sure would help with seeding (12-6)...very helpful to get 1 of these if we lose to both Wisconsin and Maryland at home.

RPI of Remaining Opponents:

8 - Wisconsin
60 - @ Michigan
13 - Maryland
97 - Minnesota
127 - @ Northwestern
92 - Rutgers
93 - @ Nebraska
61 - Illinois
87 - @ Penn State
39 - @ Indiana
127 - Northwestern

I'd say anywhere from 9 to 11 conference wins is this team's most realistic range. If I had to put money on it I'd say 10-8 is the most probable. Basketball, just like most sports, is a game of momentum. You never know for certainty what will happen and that's why they play the games for the full allotted time. Hopefully this team can catch fire down the stretch. The sports gods know this team is due to shoot lights out at some point... Here's to hoping it happens at a point or for a length of time that actually has some significance.

I got blasted a bit for explaining how (under the circumstances: Woody 2 quick fouls, AW hurt and player rotations mixed up, all within the first 4 minutes of the game) Iowa's loss at PU will help this team. They never quit and overcame several obstacles and took the lead with 1 minute left. I still say Iowa is a team that can and will get hot at the end of the season; regardless of whether we beat WUs on Sat or not.
