Ok in all honesty, I have such a hard time getting any aggression up for this forced "rivalry". I'd rather start hating South Dakota State. I mean come on... I feel like I'm in an arranged marriage and I feel nothing towards the other person, not like or love, but they haven't done much to warrant my hatred either.

Heck they gave me one of the greatest fan experiences of my life in 2002. Hard to hate them just because of that.

And they got that cute little choo-choo train mascot thing. And in bb anyway I kinda like it when the whole student section chants, "Boiler up, clap clap, boiler up, clap clap..."
I mean it kinda makes me want to boiler up. if only I knew how......

It's not a rivalry. It's a "preserved inter-division game." In the case of the other five match-ups, it happens to be a rivalry game. Purdue and Iowa were left over, so they put them together.

It's not that big of a deal. Iowa will play them every year. Iowa also play Nebraska every year. Don't get so hung-up on the details of how it happens.
