PTL

Looks like the PTL kicks off June 30th.
Does anyone have any news regarding when the draft is? Would like to know if Cook, Dailey will be playing - I assume the other Freshmen will be since their Iowa guys...

UNI will again be a part of the PTL. Games will be played in North Liberty and Waterloo.

Rob, any plans to provide video coverage? I understand PTL is a better version of YMCA hoops, but I really, really have a hankering to watch all these young pups. There are so many unknown commodities that a sneak peek would be great.

Heard Cook and Kreiner have been working out together since last Thursday. It'll be interesting when all 5 get here and go at with the others. Would love to watch that...
Cook, Pemsl, Kreiner, Bohannon and Dailey could be a starting 5 in a couple years... or at least all on the floor at the same time. That actually sounds like a good lineup.

It will be interesting to see if Cook is still at Iowa in a couple of years. Hopefully, he is going to be good enough to be NBA bound after a couple of years at Iowa.

I would be fine with Cook going pro early, and bypassing his senior season. That would mean we have one badass player from basically day one. I'll take that this fall for certain!

Yes. I will be shooting action video of the Iowa guys and cutting it up into highlights. Can't guarantee I'll make it to the games in Waterloo but I will be at all the games in North Liberty.

Thank you, Rob. There really is a ton of potential in the last 2 classes. We're just going to have to be patient with their development.

Here are the three most important things (to me) to watch for in the PTL.

1. Does Cook have a low post game? We know he has the athleticism to be a great garbage guy, but if we can throw it to him on the block a couple times a game for offense, it will be huge for this team.

2. Can Williams be a scorer? Unfortunately PTL won't give us much of a look at his (pressure) ball handling and PG play, so I'd like to see him play aggressive and score in a variety of ways.

3. How good is Moss? If he is good as some people around here have speculated, I think we have the roster to make the tourney.

Other storylines:

Has Baer put on some weight?

Is Uhl going to add a low post game this year? Last year he added weight and showed the ability to guard centers, which was great with his ability to bring centers away from the hoop with his shooting. I think the next step would be to post up on smaller players.

Has Wagner improved his offensive game?

What is Jok looking to improve this offseason?

Who is Maishe Dailey?

All great questions. Hope for Baer to come out looking like Uhl did last year with the weight gain. That could be tough. But I'd sure like to see it!

Uhl & Jok need to hone those ball handling skills. None of this head down stuff. They need to be looking for the open man, in addition to the dribble drive.

If Wagner works on his game diligently, he will improve. Too much raw talent there not to.

Dailey could play some minutes this year. My thoughts on him are if he can earn 11+ minutes a game, play him as much as you can every game, once the score is settled. Play him early and often. But if he can't earn those type of minutes, then put on the redshirt. He will be good down the road. Might as well as squeeze another year out of him. That would be good...

Excellent point on Uhl & Jok, and really our team as a whole, I really think our passing and ball handling will need to improve to play this position-less basketball we keep hearing about.

The good news with Wagner is it sounds like he is gym rat.
