PTL in Waterloo

I know it's just not the same without stiles. Did a great job. I did find this on Hawkeyereport. It appears to be Flemming and Ellingson's team vs. Dale Jone's and Hutton's team. Jones and Hutton look physically ready and Jones can flat out stroke it. Ellingson's shot was looking smooth as well. Flemming found his game more in the second half and got his teammates involved in a high scoring game.

Dale Jones 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists. Brandon Hutton: 29 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists.

Andrew Fleming in his PTL debut: 25 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Brady Ellingson: 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists.

Some PTL stats from today: Jok: 12 points, 10 boards. Wagner: 13 points, 10 boards. Uhl: 9 points, 12 boards.

Is Jones the players with the white leggings/socks up most his legs. That dude looked good. Nice confident outside shot & active down by the rim.

As long as they all can stay healthy and eligible, I expect a better season than last. The seniors are going to make sure we succeed.

Fran is going to have a lot of options. The seniors are the ones that will carry team though. I think Woodbury is going to have a great year. Woodbury, Gesell, and Clemmons all look like they have been in the weight room.

It's great to see them putting up the numbers but remember the PTL is not a great example of defensive discipline.

it's not a good measure of team defense...but if you think guys aren't putting in the effort to stop their guy...I'm inclined not to agree. Even in pick up games, especially for the young guys, they have something to prove. I've watched Gesell in the PTL...he plays defense, although he probably takes more gambles on steals. When pride is involved and measuring up to new challenges is involved...guys are going to get after it.

the problem with the PTL is that there are typically only 3 major college upper tier players on each team...if that. That gives the impression of lack of defense...it's more lack of overall talent in the league.

Although we basically know what we got in Clemmons, I'm really liking the way he's looked. He's looked like the best guard out there from what I've seen. His stop and go game looks smooth and his court vision has also been on point. Gessell has his stroke back too. We'll see if that's a good thing come B1G play but I'm expecting some solid senior seasons from those two as long as they stay healthy. The'yre both as polished and strong as I've seen. Especially Clemmons.
