PSU O'Brien the only person on earth to benefit from PSU NCAA Sanctions

he had a clause in deal where if PSU was hit with sanctions, he'd get an automatic contract extension that matched the number of years. It was a four year bowl ban..so he now has a deal through 2020...which nets him another $9.2 million guaranteed.

Who else benefited from PSU FB getting hammer, other than him

He's not the only one who benefitted. Lots of kids will get the chance to walk on at PSU who never would have had a shot of playing at a big time football program without these sanctions.

I'd say that a bunch of people in the Pitt AD will benefit. A lot of recruits are going to want to stay in Pennsylvania that would have gone to PSU over the next 5 years...or more.

He must have really wanted this opportunity. Most, I would bet, would have an escape clause and not added years.

He wouldn't have got the job if PSU weren't facing heavy sanctions. Penn St would probably have Urban Meyer if JoePa had announced he was retiring after the 2011 season sometime last summer.

benefactors too numerous to mention.

how about the recipients of the $60MM...

how about his assistant coaches, for starters....if you want to look at it from purely a 'job security/income' p.o.v.

Wisconsin.

No OSU. No PSU. They only have to beat Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois for the Leaders title. Sickening.

A little ironic that two of the six teams of the "Leaders" division are on sanctions the second year in. Definitely not "Leading" by example.
