PSU insurance company files motion for denial of coverage

my company is the opposite and tries to find coverage. I think there is a difference....

"Comb through their policies, to make sure they are getting all of their discounts.......":D:D
I assume you are an independent agent/broker? That tends to be what would be done by an independent to insure their client is covered for the most possible perils. I am an insurance guy, so not criticizing

=no coverage provider.

I should also point out there are differences in ISO and AAIS. ISO builds coverage in, whereas AAIS starts whole and adds exclusions

There is regulation, and multiple consumer groups that prevent insurance companies from declining reasonable claims.. If an ins company acts in bad faith they will face severe punishment.. The industry isn't like it was 10 even 5 years ago. Ty will deny this claim for the reasons I think duff man said earlier.. It wasn't an accident... And if u think that that shouldn't matter than u know nothing about ins.

Sure, they can't turn down reasonable claims. But that doesn't mean they won't turn over every stone to find a viable reason to turn down a claim.

In PSU's case, it's completely justified. But they will almost always try to get out of paying, when possible.

What are the particulars if you don't mind?

Since this has not yet gone to court I don't know how much I can or should say. Basically my son requires an expensive medicine if he gets hurt and it is a constant battle to get insurance companies to pay. They will go through any means possible to fight the claims and we have been put in a bind twice scrambling to get medicine because of their processes.

If you're talking about health insurance I agree with you 100%. I thought you were talking P&C insurance. Health insurance companies are scum.

That sucks about your son. I hope you get the benefits to which you are entitled under your coverage. Medical is messy.

The initial post was about P&C insurance, but somehow the topic got changed to health insurance. And I kind of agree with you. As a P&C guy, I think health insurnce sucks. There are big differences in the regulation and claims handling of P&C and health insurance. I don't think it's fair to lump all insurance companies together for that matter.

I wouldn't go that far. Heath insurers are worried about fraud and paying for claims that are not covered just the same as P&C. The rules of the game are far more complex in health which makes for more messy situations.

Also, the stakes are raised in health since people's lives and quality of life are on the line in larger ways in health.

Lastly, HIPAA rules prevent insurers from given public defense against accusations by insureds. Therefore you hear lots of media noise from the insured when a claim is denied, but the insurer must remain silent even if they are completely in the right.

I don't know ssckelly's situation, but comparing health and P&C is apples and oranges.

The only reason why health insurance got brought up is because I was asked. I have also seen a number of insurance companies fight claims in Parkersburg after the tornado ripped through the south side of town. One company said a house was not a 100% loss because a wall was still standing. Another said the home owner was at fault because he did not get a tarp over his house right away after his roof got blown off.

Insurance companies never try to find reasons to deny coverage.

Hmmm... sounds inaccurate.

If insurance companies don't deny claims then your premiums will go up. everyone wants their stuff paid for but nobody wants to pay what it would cost for that to happen. better coverage = more extensive. take your pick.

How so? You really think I would make this stuff up? The one with the wall still standing put up a sign on the side of the road to advertise how well his insurance company was taking care of him. Shortly afterwards the company came to their senses and deemed the house a total loss. Feel free to ask anyone from Parkersburg if you doubt what I am saying.

Not all companies were like this, most were very good and took care of their customers right away.
