PSU Bradley is no longer on staff, perusing other opportunities per ESPN

Condemning is not judging. The guy is more than likely squeaky clean of any knowledge but that does not mean that there is no risk to consider and that it is not prudent to weight those risks heavily.

If you travel to many 3rd world countries you may not be allowed to donate blood or plasma. No one at the blood bank or plasma center is judging you in any way, but they are considering risks.

I know everyone on the Penn St staff is a risk to hire. However, I think his positives would out weigh any negatives.

This is the only logical reason to take that stance. I respectfully disagree with it. But at least you recognize the downside. And maybe long term they would if he stuck around long enough. I feel that even if he did come to Iowa he wouldn't be here long. He has head coaching asparations and if he does well fast he's gone and if he does poorly then well..... It's probably because recruiting would be taking a hit for all the aformentioned reasons.

I don't see the downside of having your assistants taking better jobs. It worked for Hayden. If you've ever been a member of a small church, you know that a you are stuck with a bad minister for years on end while the good ones are quickly stolen by a larger church. I'd rather have a great assistant on on short term basis than be stuck with a dud for a long time. I'd also rather have players who are ready to go pro before they graduate.

i am also of the opinion that you've got to hire/recruit the best available person, regardless if they're in it for the "long haul." to hire a less qualified person just because they won't leave is setting yourself up for failure.

that said, bradley might be the best available, but you might not want to deal with the repercussions, and to me that is a different thing altogether. KF's early staff left (philbin, aiken, biels) for upward mobility, its just that it hasn't happened in the last 5-6 years.

I'm trying and look at it from Ferentz's point of view. It's pretty safe to say that he likes having continuity in his staff and knowing that all the coaches have his back and are in his corner. I don't think Ferentz likes shaking up the staff much. I was even curious when Soup came over but that's turned out pretty well even if he were to leave tomorrow. You have a good point and it sure seems to be the nature of the buisness. I just feel that for the reasons previously stated that Ferentz would lean towards Phil then a Stoops or Bradley. Even if it's not as flashy of a pick or as good of one in short term.
