Proud Hawk fan faces reality

We have one of the highest paid coaches in college football.
Great we want to keep him here and happy. He deserves every $.
The KF regiem has brought a level of football to Iowa City, that has never been seen. Kirk and staff do more with less than anyone out there. I beleive that more than 50 of 85 scholarships are to Iowa natives. Great!
Just on that stat alone how far would you expect this program to go.
This staff finds the right players to compete at the highest level.
Now reality check; a 9 or 10 win season should be thought of as a great season. We as fans always dream of NC possibilities and when it doesn't happen, we feel like we are not getting proper respect. I'm sure coach is dissapointed in loss, but he is also realistic that all the stars in the cosmos would have to line up for Hawks to win NC.
In reality based on population, geographic location, We should be happy to stay in top 25 year after year. This is why KF makes his $. We finish above where we statistically should more years than not. Saturday was a heartbreaker for all NC dreamers, like myself. Got to give props to the players for not folding. would have been easy to pack it in and final score 34-7, That is not what happened! They fought back, but came up short.
If we didn't have this Coaching staff, which recruited the right players, what would have happened. This staffed learned their lessons. After the "high" recruit classes (03, 04) went belly up in 06, 07. They realized Four stars dont always make for Great Hawkeyes!
Stay Proud Hawk fans everywhere. We have a Great Coach and Staff that recruit good Kids and turn them into great people, and football players! The National Championship Dream in football can start again in Febuary.

February of what year, pal? It ain't often that Iowa has a 3 year starter at QB, an all-American defensive end, a sick punter and a LT who will be a first round pick all on the same roster. And oh yeah, add in the new B10 scheduling and we'll have to beat Michigan, Nebraska and probably OSU (maybe even twice) all in the same year to get a sniff. Face facts, this was the year, if it didn't happen this year, it won't happen in our lifetimes. Even if someday there is an 8 team playoff, we might make that once in a while but when was the last time Iowa put together 3 wins against top flight programs all in the same year? Even in '85 we got beat at OSU and in 2002 we got absolutely housed by USC. We would have to win 3 big games in consecutive weeks. Sorry, there's just no way it's EVER going to happen.

I agree! This was the year! Did you burn all your Hawk gear sunday am?
Dreams are just that, dreams. But before you jump off any bridge, recognize we still have a great program, that needs all factors to line up for it to get that chance!

Iowa will have to play the toughest schedule to make it to NC game. An improved Big Ten should help! The season we do run the gauntlet, There should be no question about where Hawks stand. TCU, BSU how many teams have gone undefeated, with lesser sched and made NC game.

This is too pessimistic Okeefe4prez.

You're right, better to just quit now and forfeit the remaining games on the schedule.
