Props to the d line.

With all the bashing of jvb, gd, and kf, i just wanted to throw out my love so far to the part of the team everyone seemed to think would stink this year.
 
Agreed, I have been pleasantly surprised with the play of our D...now it is the O's turn to at least meet expectations...Go Hawks!
 
Also props to the ol. 6 sacks to 0. Jvb had time all day. Its a young team all around, but i refuse to think they wont be competitive as some have suggested. Hopefully they come together over this week. I actually have iowa big next week bc i think all the 'kids' on the team will get it as far as prep.

That's because the entirety of your preseason analysis of our team was based on experience.

We have talent on the D-Line. It's just young. Young talent can surprise you and develop. But you need to have talent to start.

See the offense for how it works the opposite way.
 
I wasnt that impressed with our pass rush. TFL are great. But I want TFLs to be 6 or 8 yards occasionally.
Now, dont get me wrong, I really like how our defense is playing. They are on the field a lot and are getting the job done. I just want more of a pass rush. More blitzes? I know, I know, thats crazy talk.
 
I think Iowa was getting enough pressure all second half that Jantz wasn't comfortable. I agree the young D-line in time will be able to get even better pressure.
 
Oddly, it looks like we're really going to need the D to play lights out all year.

If the O can score a couple of touchdowns per game, we'll have a shot at winning several. :)
 
Coach Morgan is a great coach--wk 1 to wk 2 improvement with this unit was impressive.

Coach B. Ferentz has the best talent of any unit and is severely underperforming with them. I wonder if the head coach will do something? Perhaps he should tweet less and coach more.
 
There is a lot of hope for the defense. Morris seems to be coming into his own as a dominating LB. He was all over the field. Dominck Alvis, Donatell etc.
This defense seems to be far ahead of last years D.
 
They contained Jantz well for the most part and there was a lot of swarm tackles. The pressure needs to get a little better but at this point the d-line is way ahead of where I thought they would be.
