Preview, Prediction: No. 25 Cyclones Invade Iowa City

Folks. It's gonna be ugly. Let's be real. We r not very good. It will take an act of God to keep it within 20 and to keep Iowa state under 100.

Why would this be any worse than the Notre Dame game? They are very comparable teams but this one is at home. Of course it might get ugly but an act of God to stay within 20?

It's gonna get ugly, and to a f*ck ed up gang bangin team from L'ames, and to have them do it on our court....

ISU- 89
The good guys with crappy water- 79

(If I'm wrong, them I will go in exile to L'ames where the men aren't men and the women are men)

Laughing!

The money is coming in on the Hawkeyes. Started as 7.5-point dogs. That number was down to 5 this morning.

I'm nervous as all heck about this game. Iowa can easily shoot lights out, build a little lead and make ISU play on their heels.

If Iowa gets blown out in this game, Fran needs to go....period. I don't care what potential recruits he has coming in, or how young this team is, he has already demonstrated that he is not a good game time coach. Let's get someone who is.

cyfans are very confident. Of course they were confident going into our football game with them. cytwins of course calling it our superbowl. Nobody responds to that anymore because everyone knows the opposite is true.

Decent tickets on StubHub @ $25. Hok fan base is a joke. A cyfan comment. What he doesn't seem to get is it's not a joke fan base, it's the low quality opponent and their loser fans that make people not want to come. They have 2 words in their vocabulary and people don't want to bring kids to hear that crap.

All that being said ISU should win. They start 5 seniors, we start 3 freshman and a sophomore. If the clowns win this the cyfans will start talking about the final four.

Key to this game is lunch then in face early...if we come out playing Hero ball and Jok and Bohannon are hitting three after three it's going to be a long night..

To this point Iowa has been horrible defensively which means they will suddenly look like Virginia..

I have no doubt Iowa will come out on fire as winning this game is all they have to play for rest of the year..

Just another post from the lunatic fringe.

Yeah I think the Hawks can keep it relatively close, but they'll probably end up losing by double digits. If Jok gets 30, and Pemsl and Bohannon are both in double digits then I like our chances. That's a big if.

Can your team shoot if nobody is guarding them? If the answer is yes, I wouldn't worry too much.

I think that will happen too. Needing a miracle to keep it within 30 is a joke. Unless ISU is better than Virginia.

That's not how this works, it's not how any of this works.

I hope the Hawks play a good game and have a shot at the upset. A blowout would suck, bad. But Iowa could get beat by 100 and Fran will be the coach for a minimum of another year.

I don't see a "W" coming in this one. ISU always seems to have the advantage with their basketball program. Would have loved to see Cook in this game.

It's well known how bad Cook''s defense is, but he was playing with a broken finger down in Florida so hopefully that is a big reason for being so unaggressive.

I am an unabashed McCaffery fan and I think that unless he somehow falls to the Lickliter level, he will coach here as long as he wants. Barta doesn't want to have to hire a third basketball coach.

People act as if it is so easy to win at Iowa. If so, why has it been 37 years since we won a Big Ten title? Lute did it once, and Davis, Alford and Lickliter never accomplished it. McCaffery had a valid chance last season and it wouldn't surprise me to see him pull it off eventually.

And it is easier to win in Ames? In Cedar Falls? C'mon, that is a lame-ass argument; "People act as if it so easy to win at Iowa." Alford/Lick destroyed the program, no doubt.....but there are good coaches out there, and for basketball it is just as easy to win here as Ames, Cedar Falls, Creighton....Wichita.

It's the mindset. Hayden Fry said it was the first thing he had to change when he got here. I think Iowa has as good of chance of being successful as anyone else. Wisconsin? Really?? They have passed us on the hardwood and on the gridiron. Is it the cheese heads that they have? It's all about expectations from the people who do the hiring and who write the checks.

Could it be worse? Of course just look at Indiana in football or Illinois in anything. You would think with a major metropolitan like Chicago that Illinois would be right up there with Ohio State year in and year out. We at Iowa have a solid football program but not a great program.

The basketball program is much better now than it was under Lickliter and maybe better than when Alford was here. We are respectable but not great. I don't see why we can't be great in football and basketball. It's all about expectations from the powers that be and from the fans. Most people don't like change and fear the unknown. Plus above all other things the football program is a major cash cow and there is a no cow tipping ordinance in Iowa City.
