Preview, Prediction: Iowa-Rutgers

Monangai is the real deal. Look for Rutgers to use long sustained drives and control the clock. Our offense is going to have to step up somehow to keep our D from getting gassed.

Iowa and Rutgers are the two teams in the B1G completing less than 50 percent of their passes o_O

Definitely not a collision of air-raid offenses here.

Iowa has the better defense and ST but Rutgers D is no slouch. Rutgers has the better RB and OL.

My guess is that Rutgers will control the clock fairly well and score at least 17 points. The question is can our offense somehow find a way to score more? Not real confident there, but, as all Iowa fans know, wins come in weird ways for this team.

I don’t feel good about this one. Need some big turnovers and special team points to have a shot.

So everyone says that Rutgers offense is pretty one dimensional. Iowa has only let one team score more than sixteen this season. Iowa has allowed only one touchdown in the last three games. Is it realistic to expect Rutgers to score more than thirteen? How is Iowa going to score? We never know the answer to that question. Special teams? Defense? Offense benefiting from a short field? Somehow the Hawks get it done. The good guys 10. Rutgers 6.

Methinks therein lies the question

Rutgers as well as everyone else knows our offensive struggles. Unless we get a miracle special teams score (which I think Rutgers won’t allow) because they know that’s the only way we win… I bet they kick it away from Dejean for no chance of return. Unfortunately I think we lose this game-
Iowa 3 Rutgers 13
Oline banged up plus receivers inability to get open, no bueno. With all that being said I’d love to be eating crow come dinner time.

3-0, whoever scores first in OT wins! Wont be a pretty game, so I stocked up on beer and antacids

Not sure how our offense scores in this game.
Fortunately, the Hawks knew how the offense would score. In every way an offense can score. It was no eruption but it does show the hyperbolic nature of the constant negativity.

Well, so much for that....

I should never doubt the legend who is Phil.
