Preview, Prediction: Hawkeyes Head to Michigan State

I like that site for historical comparisons.

This really is a critical game for Iowa if it wants to win the West. Wisconsin's schedule is soft. Hawkeyes would be in deep doo-doo at 0-2.

I for one am glad this game is on the road. After a loss like last week I think it's good to get out of town and get that "us vs the world" attitude that is common going against tough opponents on the road.

I didn't expect this as an Iowa win coming into the season and still feel that way. So I'll be very pleasantly surprised with a win on Saturday

This game scares me a lot more than the road game at NW coming up. I still think Sparty is looking ahead to Michigan after coming off a loss to ND, so is probably overlooking Iowa. Its a great "trap game" spot to be in for Iowa.

I expect a defensive battle. Going with Iowa 17-13. I'm probably going to pound the under

With both teams coming off of big emotional games in which they lost, I'm expecting a sloppy low scoring close to the vest game. 18-13 Hawks.

BTW I have yet to be even remotely close in any score prediction so far this season. So probably 55-0 Hawks!

If Iowa loses this weekend their odds to win the west go from about 10%, to just above 0%. Either way their chances were already in doo doo.

UW will be favored in every game they play until they get to Indy. Even if they lose to Michigan and Iowa at home, which is unlikely, chances are Iowa will likely drop the OSU game and at least one other along the way.

I just can't get a feel for this game at all. I will go with everyone else and say it will likely be a defensive battle which means Iowa could win late or they could lose late.

I predicted a win prior to the season but Vegas having Spraty favored has me worried. I guess after a 3-9 season, a 20 point home defeat and with our performance against Penn St, even with it being on the road I thought it might be a pick em
or we might be favored by 3. Vegas is usually smarter than me.

Since the "modern" era (Fry and beyond), we've actually won @ MSU quite a bit.

I was at the Stanzi to McNutt game in 09. Similar to Kinnick last week, the place went from a Guns n Roses concert to a morgue in an instant (also, ironically, the winning TD was on a 4th and game from the 7)

You're right in terms of what is expected. But, in sports, what's expected doesn't always play out.

My prediction is that the Hawks would come to a fork in the road in East Lansing, and they will take it.
