I went to the actual youtube page to look at this, and one of the student broadcasters posted some comments about the situation:
Youtube
Hey everyone, I'm one of the announcers here. I need to explain myself. Jake and I were called in literally 4 hours before this broadcast to call it. We're both students who didn't know much about wrestling. I prepared as much as I possibly could but again, I was only given a couple hours to fill in for the regulars who are supposed to call wrestling. I wanted to redeem myself so the next week I called Neb-Northern Iowa. Please go watch that video. I feel like I really did redeem myself.

@34marczak you should have said no. If you ever believe that you are not proficient enough to perform a task, DON'T DO IT.

@sfunoodle why would I say no? No matter what I gave it my best shot. It's because of this that I learned more about your sport. Now I'm way more prepared for the next time. I may not know what I was saying, but at least I was able to get through it. It wasn't all bad. Sure I was scared, but I kept the scores correct, I learned so much that day, and now I'm a better broadcaster because of it. Everybody has bad days. Not everybody has those bad days broadcasted nationally!

@marczak34 we are not so much upset with you as we are with the big ten network not being prepared

It's not the BTN's fault at all. We're Student U. That means each big ten school has students call all sports that mostly end up on the Internet. Since wrestling is an Olympic sport, the BTN doesn't send the pros out til the postseason. That's why we, as students, called this duel. Since it was a top 5 matchup, the national network pretty much had to run it. The normal announcers both caught the flu and couldn't do it. We just stepped up and this is what happened.
