Predictions - Indiana

I am on record that if it is close, Iowa wins. Kinnick magic does it again. 24-21, FG with 22 seconds on the clock.

I think it is just as likely that Indiana blows Iowa out, but not quite as bad as Illinois. 17-38

Gotta be a homer, so I will go with the close win!!! Go Hawks.

I'm with you on the win and it's close or lose and get beat bad.

I have faith in the offense to move the ball. but the defense is a huge worry for me (that would be a crazy statement anytime over the last 5-10 seasons).

41-24 Hoosiers - if there's no pass rush to help the DB's
28-27 Hawkeyes - if we get multiple sacks and turnovers

Correct. This is either going to be a buzzer beater by either team or a blow out.

I like to think this is finally the game that our defense gets multiple TO’s and with s respectable offensive showing, we eke out a 33-31 win.

I will keep any pessimism to myself and go with the homecoming win!

I have Indiana 34-24. I don't think our defense will be able to contain them enough.
This would be quite the team effort to pull this off. Parker has some great tape to review and plan to from Illinois, our offense could possibly be turning a corner, this will be needed. The D line really came to life in the 2nd half against Rutgers. Pretty pumped for this one. In Phil I trust.

Iowa 42
Indiana 21

Pretty much agree with everyone else…they win close or they get smoked. 10% of me thinks that this is a 2017 OSU game…where we have a “WTF just happened” moment .

Up to this point, our defense has looked more vulnerable than that of the past 3-4 years. We will need to score 27+ to have a chance.

Iowa 20
Indiana 34

I don't think Indiana boat races Iowa like they did to Illinois, but it's not going to be a whole lot better. Indiana doesn't try to consistently burn you over the top in the passing game, like Rutgers. Indiana's RPO offense is designed to both find and create soft spots in the defense. Their pass timing is impeccable. Iowa's corners have been playing quite a bit of man coverage this year. In order for man coverage to work, Iowa will have to generate a pass rush and shrink the passing window. Iowa's zone coverage in the middle and over the top hasn't been very good this year. Indiana will pick it apart.

I think Iowa can slow Indiana's running game and maybe generate a pass rush for a time. Indiana will eventually counter Iowa's pass rush and pick apart the pass protection.

Gronowski will run less than half the yards he did last week. I doubt Iowa's rushing attack is potent enough to keep the offense on schedule. Gronowski will have to go over the top a few times, which he might have a little luck with. He won't consistently get enough time though and will have to either hit the outlet guy, or dump the ball into the sideline. We'll see how that goes.

I don't see Indiana giving Wetjen any opportunities. I see both teams having at least one turnover.

I can’t get over judging Indiana’s schedule before the Iowa game. If Iowa had played this same schedule and won all four, which they certainly could have done, I am going to guess that this forum would still question Iowa’s competence. Yeah, a couple of big scores on cupcakes, with one additional unimpressive showing. The Illinois game is their claim to fame. I get it. But who is Illinois? Talk about an unknown. A ranking based on a good 2024 record and a bunch of returning players, is a pretty risky gamble.

Indiana’s first road game. Iowa has shown an improving O, with possibly an nfl level O line. An Iowa QB with a completely different look. Front 4 on D, with lots of depth. I hear the concerns about Iowa LB’s and D backs. The Rutgers game made them look ugly, until some halftime adjustments almost totally shut down R’s O. Same guys as 1st half.

This could easily turn into an excellent football game. If I am wrong, it sure as hell won’t be the first or last time.
