PREDICTION: Will Iowa v Minnesota Actually be a Good Game?

Nice read and I would even say this is the most anticipated Iowa/Gopher game since 2003.

Iowa was 7-2 heading into the Dome in 2004. They won that to get to 8-2 and beat Wisky the next week to finish 9-2. Iowa only played 12 games that year counting the bowl game.

If Iowa plays like they've been playing on defense I'd have to give the edge to Iowa right now. Really enjoy seeing those DTs in the backfield the last couple games whomever it was Pasat, Davis or Cooper. Not to mention the play of our Linebackers will help slow down Minnesota's one dimensional offensive attack.

It's going to be a play your heart out game.

Not sure how you can draw much of any conclusions with either team based on who they have played up to this point. Minnesota has impressive running stats but playing UNLV, New Mexico State, San Jose State, and Western Illinois will bloat those numbers. New Mexico State alone gives up over 600 yards a game on average and that includes only giving up 469 yards to Minnesota, granted it was on the road but the Gophers really struggled in that game against one of the worst teams of all the BCS. While Iowa stuggled against a FCS team and gave away a game at home against Northern Illinois. I look at this game and it has all the makings of another game that could be ugly to watch.

Exactly. Both teams have played only one ok team. Iowa in N. IL and Minny in San Jose State. And neither of those teams had big D-Lines. I'm still picking the hawks because I picked them in this game before the season.

A win will make it a good or great game. A 1 point win that is ugly will still be a great win during this rebuilding season.

The most anticipated Pillow Fight of all time. Pitting 2 very average teams against each other with Bowl Implications. Both teams need this win to have any chance at going to a Bowl..

Good is definitely a relative term. Will this game be good like the LSU/Georgia game? Doubtful. Everyone's good is different. Like many of the Minnesota cheerleaders feel that a size 16 is good. It's just really hard to gage.

A good game is a win by 9+ pts in the middle of the 4th since Minny can't pass the ball.

However, the last five trips to Minnesota,
Iowa is 2-3, with game scores of 21-22, 24-27, 55-0, 24-34, 29-27.

Iowa had a winning record four of those seasons and were 2-2; the last two trips to Minny were losses and the GG's ended up with 3-9 records both seasons; Iowa had winning records.

GG's had two winning records and were 0-2 against the Hawks.

Iowa had a record 40-24 in the seasons traveling to Minnesota; GG's were 26-36.

Iowa has a history of playing to the level of Minnesota. And it doesn't matter which team has the better record at the end of the season.

A great game is 28+ victory.

I'm feeling really good going into this game. Minnesota has something like the 5th fewest passes attempted in D1, and we typically do very well against one dimensional teams. Add to that the fact their QB is a freshman, and it makes me even more confident. I'll go with 35-14 Iowa.

well we are more susceptible to the pass so they match up well... now can we move the ball on them consistently?

If we can do that we will be okay.

Normally I would want to pass to start to open the run against a team like this. For some morbid reason I would like to run right at them from the start. It's almost clinical insanity.....

First play better be a PA; send Powell deep to drive the safeties and hit TE crossing the field. 27 yd pass/reception to Minny's 48.

My idea of a "good game" is a comfortable 3 or 4 score lead heading into the 4th.

Iowa has given us enough nail-biters and heartache the last few years. I'm surprised I didn't stroke out in 2009.

I'll take any win. I think this is s close game. Need to have no turnovers and solid spec teams. Today could be ruddocks coming out party or Iowa fans could be calling for "sunshine" to play QB. I really hope Ruddock is solid and wr continues to catch the ball
