PREDICTION TIME

I am an optimistic Hawk, I predict Bret Bielema is our coach in 2016.

I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't think there is even a slight chance that happens. He seems to be fully invested in the Arkansas job. Honestly, he probably has a better gig there than he would here right now. Arkansas is the better job unfortunately. Just because Iowa is his alma mater doesn't mean he's dying to come crawling back to take over a struggling program. Don't get me wrong, I would really like the hire. Don't see it happening.

Unfortunately with the poorest coaching in the nation, our hawks could go as Hawknick hopes, and be 0-12. But in reality, KF terribleness could lead to anywhere from 4-8 to 10-2. 6-6 seems about right. That's only allowing for KF to **** 4 games down the drain, which is on par for him recently.

9-3 before the bowl game.

The O-Line play will cost us some games early but will come around by week 5, and this offense will hit its stride. The defense will at least keep us close in all games. As much as I want to fall further (and to an extent, have fallen) into the "the bloom is off the rose for Ferentz" mantra, I think this team surprises a few folks and gets some momentum going into the bowl game and into the next season. Chin up Hawkeye Nation!

Final Regular Season Record: 9-3

Now hopefully the offense will end up being a lot better than it sounds like it is right now (based on what I've been reading on here this week) but it sounds like the offense can't run the ball, and receivers can't get open, so not sure what that leaves. It could be brutal unless they improve a lot.

Iowa will have to lean on its defense to win games, maybe even more so than usual. Just not sure good D is going to be enough this year. Can't win every game 6-3.. Even then, how good will the D be? Iowa gave up a lot of points in certain games last year.. But I guess it isn't 2014 anymore, either.

I'll gladly eat crow if Iowa goes 8-4 or something like that.

Anything less than 8 wins and changes need to be made.

I no longer get worked up when my wife double books my time every single fall Saturday. There are just other things to do than watch the team I love struggle to score points. That's football I guess.

Just wondering what you're basing that on. The conference? Well, the SEC is a very tough road to hoe. You could have a really good team and still go 7-5.. I suppose recruiting grounds are probably better being in the south, but Arkansas actually has a lower state population than Iowa. Just looked it up. So in-state recruiting opportunities can't be that phenomenal.

I can't say whether BB would or wouldn't be interested in the Iowa job, but I don't see ARK as a better job than Iowa. Iowa has terrific athletic department revenue (Top 15 nationally), solid tradition (at least relative to Arkansas football - what have they done??), and a terrific fan base - can't speak for Razorback fans, though. Not to mention, clearly, the expectations to win at the UofI are low. And our coach is one of the top paid coaches in the country, so the job pays exceptionally well for those who succeed.

Just my opinion, but Iowa is a good job.

And, all coaches are "committed" to where they are, until they aren't. $'s talk.

It's not just me that thinks Arkansas is a better job. (i.e. Athlon Sports: http://athlonsports.com/college-football/ranking-all-128-college-football-coaching-jobs-2014 ) If you search on a recruiting website the in-state talent in Arkansas is definitely better than Iowa. Multiple 4-stars come out of there every year. I don't know how, but they do. Arkansas and Iowa's tradition is honestly level I think.

Winsipedia comparison: http://www.winsipedia.com/arkansas/vs/iowa
Arkansas leads in Wins, Bowl Games, Overall Record, NFL Draft Picks, 1st Round NFL Draft Picks, and # of weeks ranked
Iowa leads in Bowl Record, Heisman winners (1 to 0), and weeks ranked at #1 (11 to 1)

That alone ^^ can make the case that Arkansas is a better program. Not to mention that their stadium having larger capacity, larger attendance.

Love the Hawks. Just don't see any reason Bielema would have the sudden urge to once again change coaching jobs just because his alma mater is desperate. Being realistic.

I think that you are under-estimating the loyalty factor. You probably know that he wasn't just a Hawkeye athlete, but also an assistant under both Fry and Ferentz. And he just said a few weeks ago that Fry was his mentor. Plus I think that he has a score to settle with Wisconsin (Alvarez). My question isn't whether, or not, he would accept the job if the money was right, but whether an AD would offer it to him.

Do we have to hear about Bert every ten minutes? Yes hawk tattoo, yes he played at Iowa, who cares. He's a big fat faced ***** who coaches in ark. Who cares

Come on outta the closet clone fan! Yes he hates Iowa State, I would be worried if I were you too.

From what I've heard and seen from you so far on this board, this doesn't surprise me at all. Unrealistic and over the top optimism. Sorry

No, he is just a troll that has jumped the shark. His posts used to be amusing, now they are just sad.

As for predictions...I'm going with 6-6 unless/until this team proves otherwise.

I am going to put 7 razor blades in my mouth and chew them.

No make that 6 razor blades, 7 would be stupid.

Iowa goes 12-0, no wait that would be stupid, I'll say 11-1

Okay I guess it's time to do this.

well it came out better that I thought at 6-6. We are one injury from winning 0 games which scares me, but at the same time I don't think the conference is very good so if we stay healthy we might I could see us winning 8 games

Even in the original post it said Iowa's wins at the top of the post. I felt that it was repetitive to write win or Iowa 12 times. It's obvious that I was not picking the other teams to win.

Yeah, VERY obvious. Because you are the biggest unrealistic homer I've ever witnessed. Even on a message board.
