Predict the size of the meltdown

Week 6.

I think if we come out ball control and lose, it makes Penn State look like a victory celebration.

I think if we lose in a shoot out, there is going to be a realization that the talent gap is the problem, not the coaching.

I firmly believe that #2 is the problem but KF has to own that too.

Any loss for any reason will result in a gigantic meltdown

Feels like a lot of people are rooting for it to happen which is weird

Won't be pretty if Iowa loses to Northwestern -- which I don't think will happen ... But if it does ... watch out ...

I can't see Iowa playing anything other then under center trying to put together long scoring drives. Which for sure open the door to #1.

To what purpose to posts like this serve? I just don't get it. Have seen others that are similar. It's as if some are already dancing on graves and somewhat reveling in it.

Let's see how the game plays out.

The answer to this question is easy.

I root for the Hawks always, and there is no grave dancing from me.

But I do find the meltdowns entertaining.

Any dreams of a magical season took a hit last Saturday, but I really have confidence in Ferentz to use the Penn State loss as a building tool. Of course a loss to NW again would be meltdown time, this game is critical in so many ways - we don't want this program to sink into some kind of long mediocrity. Don't even want to think about it, although a win over Northwesrern wouldn't be above criticism. I'd rather witness the Clones fanatics meltdown after being stomped by Mizzou - now THAT would be entertaining.

I think the meltdown will come either way. But for me, it isn't as much if we lose, but how we lose that may or may not rile me up. I take this game as a lost game that we must win every year, as the Hawks have failed to get it done...let's see...5 times out of the last 6 meetings. Incidentally, that one time we beat them, we did it with our worst team, so maybe we have something there?

I look at this game like how PSU fans likely look at the Penn State-Iowa game. Regardless of skill, talent, record, etc, Northwestern just has our number. Whether it is because our gameplan is predictable, or whether they just have the offense to find ways past our defense, or plain luck, they get it done against us.

It's been 9 years since we've crushed these guys, and since then the largest margin of victory in this game was a 14 point Northwestern victory. While Northwestern's struggles this year give me hope, our performance against Penn State and our general history give me pause. I think this is the year we finally get it done (which is what I thought pre-game last year...and the year before that)... I pray that it is...but at the same time I'm really wary of jNW. ******* Wildcats.

This is a year of anomalies for the Hawks. Perhaps that bodes well for this game. Now let's go get fired up and kick some Purple ***** ***!

This is ridiculous. Simply put,you are not a Hawkeye fan if you are entertained by Hawkeye fans pain of losing.
You are an observer of Iowa football, who seeks enjoyment from the pain of fans who are invested. Basically a voyuear, who likes to watch but does not participate. I feel sorry for you,as you have never really felt the joy of winning,as that simply robs you of our ''entertainment''.

We will NOT lose if it is a shoot out. When I say shoot out, that is they put trust in JV, like we saw the 6 previous quarters to the PSU game. JV in a no-huddle. One where it is continuously hurry up, Not the pussyfoot no-huddle, like what was brief attempted in Happy Valley, but a real no-huddle. One where KOK is not calling the shots, but JV is in charge, at the line of scrimmage. we will NOT lost that game...

That said, I do not think that game will be played in Kinnick today... Luckily we probably won't need it with jNW horrendous D.

Show me Canzeri in between the 20s please!

I'm just hope we best these guys. McNutt and the seniors and guys that decided to stay deserve this one. Would be nice to prove we can beat these guys. i would really love for the staff to surprise us and open up the offense and just dino these guys. Would definitely give this team some much needed confidence.

Well put. I've never understood why people enjoy watching other people that are on the same side be upset. We are all on the same team here. We are all hawkeye fans. We all enjoy watching the hawkeyes win... And if you don't... Gtfo. :)

Bipolar disorder of hawkeyenation continues with a Hawk win. Fans will think because of a few new wrinkles by Norm/KOK all the ills of this team will be cured. You will hear talk of running the table and playing in the BIG title game.:D

I predict people without perspective will have a royal hissy fit while those that do get almost as much enjoyment from laughing at them as they would from a win.
