Pre-season Predictions

I got Iowa 11-0 in the non con and 21-10 over all. I think you could swap a few of those and I am sure there are a couple of wins I don't see coming and a few losses I don't see coming.... but I think 21-10 and easily in the dance and fighting for a better seed heading to the BTT.

Whatcha guys think?

I’d be thrilled with that.

I'd say 10-1 in the non-con. I feel like 9-2, but we don't have a road game and there are only a couple teams I see that could beat us (other than ISU). I'll go 19-12 overall and win 1 game in BTT and lose the play-in game in the Dance.

Harding is going to explode this year.

If freshmen and newcomers come through we could go ten deep easily.

Trejo, Dimbele and Koch could help absorb Freeman's minutes of he gets into frequent foul trouble

Got my season ticket today. Excited. Part of the fun for me is watching the early games as players grow and get to know each others’ habits. We shall see where the students sit this season. If the fans in my section don’t stand and cheer, I will report them to the I Club. (I have memorized their seat numbers.)

Washington State will be a wild card. They lost pretty much their entire roster and a new coach so it'll be interesting to see what they do coming off a 24th ranked season.

9-2 Non-con ( lose vs ISU and nuetral vs Utah )
9-11 to 11-9 in conf
- Losses= at Mich, USC, UCLA, Indy, OSU, Rutgers, Maryland, Illannoy + home vs Indy and / or Purdue.
- Toss-up: home vs Purdue, Indy and at Wisconsin, Nebby

I'm gonna settle on 19-12 / 10-10. Lose to Maryland in 1st round of BTT
Weak schedule with minimal road W's = NIT, 1-1 beating Va Tech and losing to St Louis or Missouri.

So many new faces it's impossible to predict. I do think Freeman, Sandfort, and Harding might be one of the top 3 top 3 combos in the conference.

I'd put Dix there instead of Brock because of what he flashed towards the end of last year, but yeah. How many teams have a better core then Freeman, Dix and Sandfort?

All jokes aside, everyone sleeps on Dix. He was their best on-the-ball defender last year and his mid-range game is a thing of beauty. The 18-foot fade away floater is just money.

I liked how the returning players during their exit interview with Fran, talked about how they need to be better defensively. Obviously, I don't have access to what is said during those interviews this year or any year. I am going off what people, who cover the program closely, have said.

A Fran team will never pass the eyeball test defensively, but there are CERTAIN analytical numbers you could point to and say that they are better than what you think. The last 3 years, not only do they flunk the eyeball test, they flunk the analytical test as well...they have been straight up garbage.

Not throwing shade at any of these guys, but they are not going to be missed defensively. Iowa will be sooo much better on that end this year. Even someone like Payton Sandfort, who had his struggles last year, will be better.

Regardless - looking forward to BB, 100X over FB. Can barely watch Ferentz FB with any enjoyment but much different anticipation with BB games.

Of course, always want a W and moments of frustration when they get into shooting / defensive funks but just a higher level of opportunity with BB ...
... always a punchers chance, almost always competitive, surprise players each season (Dix, Dembele). Also, I just love BB when Hawks have solid post play and they certainly have that with Freeman / Dembele / Brauns.

Hope Coop-K is as good as hyped. Looking forward to toughness / rebounding that Traore and Tadjo bring and sleeper expectation is big contribution from Thelwell.
