Practice report, Nov. 26: NU preparing for Iowa’s power run game

If we can still run effectively with a stacked box, I like our chances. Run till they stop it, flip the field, limit turnovers and we can win.

I would not be surprised if they bring everyone up close. Stack the box, play press coverage and count on their athletes to run with our receivers when necessary. Rudock is young and as we have seen he is vulnerable to pressure.

Nebby is second in the B1G in sacks with 33 as well, they are going to get some pressure.

If they watch any film at all they will see that stacking the box and blitzing will be very successful against Iowa. It will be a good test as Nebby has athletes on defense. Iowa will have to burn them a few times to get them to play honest defense.

Thats why we need our d to come out strong. We are going to have to punch them in the mouths on o.
Mark is good at pounding and picking up the blitz, when they get nicked and worn, jc can slash and gash.

some of the descriptions of Nebraska suggest they should have destroyed Northwestern and Michigan and Minnesota and Penn State.

guess what - they didn't.

I think the hawkeys can beat them this year.

To me, the best way to attack 8/9 men in the box is to spread the D out wide. This is something that I still think KF struggles with committing to. We could go 5 wide with 3 TE's and 2 WR's, for example, and that could totally disable 8/9 in the box. Just make sure you have quick passing routes and deep routes on same play. Send 1 or 2 deep each time. Between CJF, Hamilton, Duzey, KMM, T.Smith, Bullock, Hillyer, Canzeri, we have plenty of weapons to use in 5 wide.
