Power 5 schools that have more wins then Iowa the last 5 yrs

Great stat and of course as fans many times we just remember those heartbreaking losses to Wisky the last two years that could have put the hawks in the Champ game. We know the players are putting everything out there and I for one want to see them get at least a couple more division championships in the next few years.

Ok it's not a long list but this all of them. Everyone else Iowa has more wins then the last 5 yrs.

Clemson
Bama
OSU
OU
GA
Wisky
LSU
PSU
Michigan

Note the BIG flavor to this list

I read at this moment, Iowa is tied for it's best 5 year run in school history as far as winning percentage. If they win their bowl game it will make it the best 5 year stretch in school history. I know we live in a world where it's all about Championships and their hasn't been enough of them....but it's not chopped liver either. Iowa basically has a football factory - one of the healthiest programs in the country. At lil OLE Iowa. A school that doesn't have blue blood pedigree, doesn't recruit at a top 25 level and resides in a state with a small population and also with another D1 school in it's shadows. I get fatigue over having 2 coaches in 40 years....but I'll never understand why anyone would want to wish this away. Iowa football is the envy of many.

Well stated. Iowa is ALWAYS viewed as a tough out from opponents. It is really remarkable, to be honest.

It's all a matter of perspective. I don't take this level of success for granted, and I don't think anyone should, because it's not easy. At the same time, it's not wrong to say that if a couple of games go differently in 2018 and the Wisconsin game goes differently this year, Iowa has 3 BT West Division titles in the past 5 years. I don't see that as a negative, just how close they are and can be. I would think that serves as motivation to the program to keep pushing.

Yup. Goes to show us how tough it is to do it. Every other D1 team is trying to be above us on this list but only 9 are. If Iowa was in the Big 12 or Pac 12 we'd be #2 or #1 in their conferences. Yet we are in the toughest conference there is... I think a list like that confirms it as much as anything

Yet Iowa hasn't been a top 10 team nationally over that time, except 2015. Odd. Guess it speaks to our consistency, though. A solid 8+ wins every year.

Hey but Iowa’s current recruiting class sits at #25 on 247 sports!!

No, but they have been a top 25 team routinely over that time. They've spent more time in the CFP rankings since they started then just a handful of teams. It's not elite, but it's probably the next step - whatever that is down from elite. They've been close, I want them to break the door down and IMO, wholesale changes at top is more likely to result in going the opposite direction. I just think the odds are higher in that. It could actually get better with a new coach, scheme, staff etc... but I personally would likely bet against it.

Well...the narrative that Iowa is 10th in the country in wins over the last five years is not going to play well on this board. This means that KF is doing something right. Unacceptable analysis.

The real problem is that 45% of the teams ahead of us in wins play in our conference...and we can't beat them consistently...and in the case of Penn State and Wisconsin...it's Iowa-Minnesota, Iowa-Iowa State, and Iowa-Nebraska BAD. That's really bad...and what leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I think those teams go for five in a row against Iowa next year.

If I was Brian Ferentz, I'd spend my summer just working on Penn State and Wisconsin game plans and watching film. Time to end those streaks.

It's ancient history, but the final 5 years of Evy's regime were remarkable:

1956 9-1
1957 7-1-1
1958 8-1-1
1959 5-4-0
1960 8-1-1

That is a winning percentage of .808!

Kirk is running hot as well: .707 the past 5 years.

But Iowa plays cupcakes in OOC that give them 4-6 wins a year.

/yes, that is sarcasm

Even more stark is the single lonely B12/PAC12 team.

Those conferences are hot trash.
I laugh every time I see that ridiculous Big 12 “Where champions are made” (or some such drivel) commercial. It’s overly dramatic and frankly embarrassing, given the fact that they have one good program and are otherwise absolute trash.

i guess one way to look at it ...
Iowa was Iowa State’s test to see if they would have THE season

Iowa was Michigan’s test after a crappy start to see if they could right the ship after Wisconsin and become legit.

Iowa was Penn State’s test to see if they were a legit CFP contender

Wisconsin’s was Iowa’s test to see if a new title contender would emerge after OSU slapped them.

Iowa was Minnesota’s test to see if they were a legit playoff contender.

Are we sure this list is accurate? Nebraska isn't even on it.
