Post play the past 2 games

Pretty bad in my opinion. Woodbury and Olaseni were frequently out of position and got beat up on the boards. They lost a lot of 50-50 battles for loose ball situations, mainly because of their weak hands. Not communicating with other defenders. Bad footwork. Mainly invisible for long stretches and making a lot of fouls.

Woodbury had better stop swinging his elbows. He's been listening too much to Dan Dakich about his 'toughness.' I'm getting sick of watching Woodbury swing his elbows to make up for his overall lack of strength in the upper body, hands, and tiny arms. He'll be nailed for a flagrant-2 if he keeps it up.

I couldn't believe the miscommunication or non communication on the transition defensive scramble situations that led to a couple uncontested layups.

I was tempted to start this thread as well, I was afraid of it turning into another Woodbury bash session. Both of the centers were horrible last night, as you said they were constantly out of position and either gave up easy points or ended up fouled (some ended up as and-ones). At times both of them looked like they had cement in their shoes.

They are not all to blame though, a few times they ended up out of position because the guards could not keep up and they tried trying to pick up the slack. Let's be honest, Iowa did not play well as a team defensively.

I agree. The disappointing part is no one is counting on those guys to put up a combined 30 pts or something, but just to play SOLID defense. Both looked so incredibly lost most of last night to the point of embarrassment. And I know Gabe hasn't been playing ball for all that long, but my god he has some of the worst traveling violations I've ever seen. They're not even close. I don't know if he's rushing/too excited, but it's not that hard to keep a pivot foot and not travel. Woodbury committed some absolutely horrid fouls that were lucky they didn't end up and-1's (didn't end up making a difference). Couple times he was clearly out of position and instead of just giving up the dunk he just pretty much puts his arm into the guy's chest w/o his feet ever leaving the ground. Not even close to fouling hard enough to at least prevent the basket. Those kind of mental errors have been everywhere from everyone on the team the last few games. So damn frustrating.

Our big guys are annoying me the most right now. Gabe looks like he's a freshman again with no ability to play post defense or rebound a ball. He never passes the ball when he gets it. Gets awful fouls and awful times. Woody shoulda got kicked out last night. Gets pushed around and always in out of position on D. And whenever we need a bucket he ends up with the ball and tries that weak baby hook or goes into the lane and starts throwing his bows and gets a TO. I'm sorry but I just dont see what Woody brings. Can't score consistently in the post. Turns it over all the time. Averages 3 boards a game as a 7 footer. BAD. Never seen so many illegal screens between him and Gabe. Nor do they have any presense in the post overall. Woody plays like 20 minutes a game so I have no clue why waste a start on him.

Gabe played 3 good games in a row and now everyone expects polished play? Yeah, they sucked the last 3 games - Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Gabe seems confused (and fouls) when their shooter drives into him. Kinda what White does to his defenders.

Just get away and live to fight another battle.. Not going to block every shot. And he could use some strengthing in the hands and lower body.

Sioux, if you're lurking...chime in on this one big man.
I was thinking last night, what the h has happened to Gabe? He had made so much progress yet the last two games he has looked completly lost on both ends of the floor. We need him to get back in form if we want to make any sort of post season noise. Woody while not looking great, has not had the same level of regresion.

I've never seen so many illegal screens from this team, especially Woody, in my life time.

A couple is an understatement as sheehee and some others probably got 7-8 layups that were pretty uncontested, which is easily the difference in the game,

The hawks look like they are scanning up the floor to try to make steals and guys are getting behind them

I agree, Woody's problem was the foul trouble he got into. I love Gabe's shot blocking ability but not at the expense of getting beat to the hoop. When you are going for the block from behind that is going to get called more times than not, sometimes even when the block is clean.
