Possible Potential '11 Recruit

Big time prospect Erik Copeshttp://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/102108/erik-copes does not appear happy about the firing of George Washington's head coach. Sounds very possible he may be asking out of his LOI. Copes is a 6'8", 230 pound big man with a great motor and a tremendous shot blocker/rebounder. Still raw offensively, but that is common w/ HS bigs. He hails from Philadelphia, so it will be interesting to see if Fran can work his connections out there. The competition would be very, very stiff for this kid.

Maybe I'm going TOO far outside the box, but IF (I'd make it bigger if I had the technical Know-how) Fran was able to get Copes, could anyone see them still trying to bring in Woodbury, but red-shirt him? That would give them this on the front line in 2012-13...

Copes would be in the same class as Olaseni/White. He would be on campus this fall.

If you are project these guys for the 2012-13 season, you have your classes wrong.

Yeah, I meant 2013-14, was thinking 2012 class, which screwed me up.
 
One problem with Copes…he is still committed to GW, so I wouldn't get to hype about him coming to Iowa.

However, if he did ask for a release he would be a player I think the staff would definately take a look at. I'd sure love to have a banger like him come in and fill the center spot.
