Northside Hawk

Remember the Iowa State game?Yeah, that fall was wet/cold. I remember freezing my ass off at the MSU game...in early October!
Rob Houghtlin slips on the wet turf while kicking off to start the game, and actually executes a successful, but unintended onside kick. Offense goes three and out however, because players are slipping all over the place. Then something happened that I've never seen before of since. Equipment people and managers are scrambling all over the place on the sidelines changing the cleat length in the players shoes in the middle of the game. It was like watching a bunch of pit crews changing tires in a NASCAR race.
That didn't work out too badly and the Hawks crushed them. But man, the Northern Illinois game that year was played in a downpour, MSU like you mentioned, two days of rain stopped just in time for the epic Michigan game, Illinois was cold and windy, and Minnesota...Minnesota! Game time temps were around 20 degrees and there was a dusting of snow on the old turf at Kinnick.
Hottest game I attended at Kinnick was easily the 1988 Colorado game. The air temperature was in the mid nineties and it had to be at least 120 on the turf. Some posters have mention some hot, and humid season openers in recent years.
