Portal needs or wants

I had not appreciated that the squad limit to 105 was also making everyone on schollie. I wonder how adding 20 more male scholarships is flying with Title IX?

Ultimately, I can see how getting rid of walkons makes sense with the new and evolving financial model of the NCAA (and break away league when it comes). Essentially, college football players are evolving into part time employees. You can't have some of your employees not be paid.

1) uninjured, marginally decent QB that can run AND slide.
2) Hulkish OL x 3 -- the meaner the better.
3) 1 stud Corner, 1 stud Safety, 1 stud LB - preferrably from ACC, SEC or B12 - who have seen plenty of opposing passing teams.

I don't expect them to do much in the portal since they are going to have to punt people off the team to meet the new roster size requirements.

That applies to everywhere else too. Teams are going to be looking for people in the portal that can contribute right away, otherwise forget about it. Lesser athletes that hit the portal are just punting themselves out of contention.

I read today that a kid from Williamsburg, Rayce Heitman, has accepted an offer from Iowa as a preferred walk-on. How is that when all 105 are supposed to be on scholarship?
