Poor Desmond Howard.

Read through the replies. There's so little to do in and around Ames, I couldn't tell which were serious and which were making fun of Ames.

The most interesting thing I ever did in Ames was participate in a Veisha riot on Welch Avenue. Those were the days......

Right, I went to Veisha my senior year in high school, a long time ago, from des moines to ames. had a good time but no other reason to go there.

They keep him on to make corso’s opinions seem more well reasoned and thoughtful.
My buddy watches a bunch of hot take shows and he legitimately believes "the heel" position on anything related to the Big Ten. He sent me a long email yesterday about how the Big Ten East is better than the SEC West and the Big Ten West is better than the SEC East. His arguments basically come down to how bad programs like Ol' Miss, Arkansas, Vandy and Tennessee are right now and references to 4th tier bowl games from years ago, like Northwestern beating Kentucky. He then proceeds to ignore any explanations, like "hey dude, the SEC has put multiple teams into the playoffs" or "the B1G has failed to put a team into the playoffs" and as such that pushes the SEC to go deeper to match up with our higher teams. Or arguments like "Did you happen to watch a single snap of that Michigan-Florida game last year?" They seriously need to ban these hot take shows.

The reason I hate the debate shows is they just yell about hypothetical things. Very little of what kellerman says (he’s the worse) can actually be proven. It’s not like Iowa vs nebraska debates and then they play and we know who wins. Debating conferences is an inane topic.

There is no objective way to debate and settle who is better. Yes Georgia is good, but what does that mean. That means nothing conference wise except Georgia is good and other teams aren’t.

There's a book by Paul Fussel called "Class." He has a theory on this which is that sports arguments started as a way for proles to argue about something they had purported expertise in and emulate the higher classes to feel important and show off their deep knowledge.

And that “BBQ cornbread place” fucking sucks.

After getting a house and taking up smoking on the weekends a few times a month, I have come to the conclusion that most BBQ restaurants suck. Unless a place does enough volume to sell everything same day or substantially limits quantities that they smoke, like Franklin's down in Austin or a couple places around where I live, they just aren't that good. Ribs do not keep and need to be consumed same day. Brisket does not keep very well. Pork shoulder will keep, but you have to be very gentle when you reheat it. I went to one place down here and the pork shoulder was dry and refrigerator temperature in the middle.

And I'm not a health nut by any means, but my god some of these places just absolutely murder the meat with salt. If I taste more salt than whatever wood you used on the first bite, your meat is not good.

This tweet is going to trigger so many Cyclone fans. Des has no idea what he just did.

I assumed they'd be staying in Des Moines instead of Ames....and maybe they are...if not that really sucks for the Gameday crew.
