Poll: Which Player Do You Think Is the Most Disgrunteled By Kirk?

"disgruntled" a strong word? how about pizzed off.

If I was CJ, stuck around with the promise of a real shot at playing time and watched what I've watched...I'd be pizzed.

If I was Willies, and despite all the obvious success I had in Spring ball...rarely saw the field...or the ball...I'd be pizzed.

If I was Powell...and after clearly showing my game-breaking skills...saw myself mothballed when the team needed me most...I'd be pizzed.

If I was Canzeri and continually watched KFz use a slow power back...on outside plays...I'd be pizzed.

If I was the entire offense and I saw one more predictable checkdown into a short side run for 2 yards...I'd be pizzed.

If I was Tevaun Smith, and despite looking like a breakout player for 2014, rarely saw a ball thrown my way...I'd be pizzed.

And if I was a season ticket holder watching all of the above...I'd really be pizzed. And I am.

Lol, I am not arguing that point that's why I said I agree with the list. Add me too that list of pizzed off fans. Some on here are finally beginning to see the light. Three years ago I commented on here that if Kirk didn't show a significant improvement by the end of 2014 that he needed to go. He's got a few more games left to prove himself. Win the rest and play in the conference championship game and win that then MAYBE my blood pressure will decrease and return to normal levels thus avoiding a heart attack.

What I am sincerely hoping for if we struggle and lose more games is for Kirk to
do the right thing and release the U of I from its contractual obligations by resigning at the end of the season. Win out as I previously stated and I am forgiving guy and willing to say lets see what happens next year. 7-5 this season given our schedule is a firing offense as far as I am concerned.

indeed. 7-5 with this schedule is effectively a 3-9 performance. And losing to the clowns alone...

I hesitate to do this because they are kids, but let's take off the blind hatred and look at it differently. First off, I'm sure they are all frustrated about last week. Now-

A. CJ, perhaps he is or will be a starting B1G QB. Perhaps he is better tha Jake. But people are clamoring for someone that has completed less than half of his college passes. He might not have as many teams looking for his potential 1 year of eligibility if he transfers as many think.
B. This juco super star had offers out of JC from iowa and Ohio. Not all juco leagues are equal.

C. Daniels. He's a sophomore. What has he shown you this year that he is better than the upperclassmen? Seriously, point to a single play.

D. Canzeri. If he was healthy what you typed might be true. However,He's a situational back, not a bell cow

E. Smith. Yes iowa would benefit if he got the ball more. His potential for big time status? Depends upon your definition of big time.

What does Powell's offers have to do with anything after what he has proved in the last year and a half when he gets the chance?

Like get open regularly, block, catch contested balls? I don't know that might be a few things.

I would love for him to have the ball in his hands. I wish he could catch punts. The point is everyone is sighting examples of players that do play, but all their warts are ignored.

A. Bethard - burning another year of eligibility on the bench when he was told he would get a fair shot at the starting qb position while watching the starting qb put up some of the ugliest numbers in recent memory

B. Powell - lead all JUCOs in yards per catch and come to Iowa to be the man, only to be targeted once or twice per game.

C. Daniels - was a prime candidate for a redshirt. Is our most highly touted, most well-rounded back. Burned the redshirt because the staff said he was "too good to keep off the field." After the first game, has seen very limited carries since despite being healthy.

D. Canzeri - probably our best playmaking running back. The only guy who has proven he can make guys miss and turn short plays into long gains. Sees limited carries due to Kirk's preference of 2 yrd per carry Bullock.

E. Tevaun Smith - has shown flashes of brilliant. Has all the tools to be a big time WR. Gets a couple of targets per game.

We only talk about the skill players. There are most certainly guys in the trenches, linebackers, safeties who look at the lack of performance in front of them and probably feel they would do better. These kids work their tails off and all they want is a chance to perform. I darn well hope they are disgusted, work harder and eventually get their chance. I think a lot of board posters feel that some players get more chances than others. That likely is true. It's true in the business environment and it's true in sports. If a boss(coach) feels 2 people are fairly equal but he deems 1 more reliable, more of a team player, etc, he will probably go with that guy. I certainly don't imply anything with regard to the current thread. I don't know any of the players. I do know that Division 1 athletes have a lot on their plate and all of them just want a chance to play.

To answer the question specifically, i say the wide receivers, specifically smith, powell, willies. We talk about wanting game breakers and frankly i think all 3 can fill that role, but they are rarely used. A perfect example is punt returner. We have a guy who gets 5-10 touches a game potentially and we just give it away. Speed and quickness are needed in this position. We have guys who would fill this role but we don't use them. And don't tell me they don't catch the ball crap. all we do currently is let the ball bounce half the time. One of my biggest pet peeves with the coaching staff. They may as well have Scherf running back punts.

I think CJB should of played vs Maryland, quite of bit actually. But other than a good half vs Pitt, he really hasn't done anything to lay claim to QB1. He has a great op during PU and did more to lose the job than win it. Hey, I like Rudock but I'm a risk taker, so I prefer CJB. Then again I have nothing to lose by naming CJB starter.

I wish people would STFU about Canzeri. He has been hurt since August, then hurt his heal vs Ball St IIRC. He doesn't have the burst he showed last year. Hopefully it'll come. I'd like to see him more, but to suggest he is disgruntled ignores the reason he is probably not playing more; injuries.

I too want Daniels to shine, he is a big, athletic back. But he hasn't exactly looked amazing in his limited role either. It's up to players to grasp the opportunity when presented, he had a bigger role with Bullock out.

Powell has shown both why is IS a weapon, and also why he is NOT used more with mistakes.

I agree the use of our WRs is mystifying.

As said prior, Willies is the name I'd maybe add to your list. But he is a RS FR with Smith, Powell, Hillyard, and KMM ahead of him so not sure he expects a ton more.

I hope it isnt Daniels. He would be a two for one loss.

It is one thing to be upset with losing. most are and most are smart enough to know they need to work hard and perform better to fix it. The problem is that this coaching staff refuses to put players in a position to be successful. I would not fault a single player for seeing this as the only ones that dont see it seem to be the coaches themselves.

These guys cant be having fun. At the end of the day this is entertainment for fans and a game for the players. It isn't entertaining for the fans, and it cant be fun for the players.

I agree with you but what's alarming is the total number of players that could fit here. It's conceivable every running back, wide receiver and tight end could be in this group.

Why are we all only carping about skill position players on offense? Do you think the defensive unit doesn't have players that are not happy with their playing time? Or offensive linemen? Really? I think a lot of this talk of players transferring is a tempest in a teapot. It's fueled by our overall poor performance and we have posters here who have no idea of how the players feel and it all gets stirred together and gets blown way out of proportion.

Transfers aren't going to happen in mid-season. After the season, the players will be more level headed than they are after an emotional loss; and that's when transfers will occur.

You have to wonder if there are other players we don't know anything about who are riding the bench all season because a lesser player is starting ahead of them? Surely there is someone on the bench who is equal to our safety? Surely we have someone who can punt return better than last in the conference? Are our backup DL really so much worse than our starters? Hard to say as a spectator. Faith was very highly touted. You would think he would be playing by now?
