I bet I can list the poster who will be bashing Brian after the first game. I bet I can list the posters who will defend Brian after the first game.

Brian has a lot of things going his way...

He seems to be pretty at ease in the spotlight.

He has some experience outside the "protective fold" of the KF bubble.

The offense/coaching he is replacing was far from stellar, mostly predictable, boring.

He seems to want to change things, shake things up.

He is the one person who might be able to influence "Old Leather Helmet" to be more up to date with the system.

He seems to like risk and change and knows that the unpredictable can be a great tool to have in the box.

In game coaching has been pretty pathetic under "OLH"...he can improve this in his position.

If there is a fan base that is tolerant...it is Iowa...and Iowa people are nice. (All groups of people gripe)

I look forward to what he can bring to the plate.

If things don't go well...Pops will mention how many mean tweets they get and how difficult it is to coach at Iowa...sigh.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! Hilarious!!! Guy at work just walked by my door wondering what's so funny.......... tears.......!!!

Excellent Running backs? Check!! Excellent Offensive line? Check!! Elusive Tightend? Check!! Fairly highly recruited QB? Check!! The last offensive coordinator was God's gift to opponents defense? Double check!!!!!!

Brian could not walk into a better situation. Also we all know that Brian has the job as long as the captain is at the helm. I am optimistic that we will be much more satisfied with Brian over the last Offensive regime......... see double check item above.

The question is how much time SHOULD he get to prove himself... Well since your asking fans their answer will be after the first 3 and out or turnover... But seriously I'd say if there are no serious injuries hampering anything I'd say 7 or 8 games in after playing some BIG games we outta know what he's all about. I don't want him leaving anything on the table against PSU or any other big opponent. The thing is they are breaking in a new QB... Even though neither of them are true freshman and have been on campus for awhile they still haven't finished a game that they've started. So much of BFs evaluation will be directly tied to the performance of the QB we'll just have to see how whoever is out there looks...

4, maybe 5-6....games. there's enough pieces and depth at historically key positions for Iowa (ol, rb, te) to have an effective offense at the onset. If we get average or better qb and wr play....Iowa should have a top 35 offense by the last third of the season. Which would be stellar, if we have a top 30 defense.

I know its not fair. But I write movie reviews without seeing the movies first. When I was a kid I would write book reports without reading the books and somehow the English Literature teachers could figure it out.

What I am trying to say is that most of us have already made up their minds. About how unfair everyone was to Greg Davis, and how the players and other coaches quit on him. Its like he had his hands tied behind his back the whole time. Then there is the whole nepotism thing. While it may be unfair to judge BF as an unqualified failure before he coordinates the offense for a singe game, I think most of us have already decided.

I'm off the BF band wagon at, the first punt from the opponent's 35 yard line. Or the first time we take knees to run out the last 2 minutes of the 1st half. This is never acceptable behavior in a football game.

Lol, why did you have to remind me about that punt???? I've already put too much money in the cussing jar.

Greg Davis got 5 years of having the worst five year stretch of offenses statistically since the 70s. That should tell you all you need to know.
Davis was hired because so many morons wanted O'Keefe gone. Ferentz had to send a message to the fans that their opinions' are worthless and he did a great job.

So you're saying he hired someone who was fired and that no one else wanted because he needed someone who would make fans/Barta yearn for his replacement? . . . BTW, that amnesia thing you have regarding KOK, have you ever sought treatment for it?

(I bet we all know who the single vote for 5 seasons was)

I'll know after 4 games. What's this "seasons" nonsense? The guy knows everything about Iowa football. He knows the players. He knows the previous two play books inside and out. He knows what PP is doing on defense. He knows what KF wants. His tendencies will be apparent by the 5th game. More Snooze fest football or fresh, effective aggression.

I think we have a winner.

Is there any way at all that we can get the Kansas State coach to come back and be our offensive coach for a few season so we can show these younger Iowa fans what an offense is suppose to look like?

Oh, I want to do my best Barta impersonation and re-vote that Brian stays for 20 years, but he needs to learn how to chew bubble gum on national television.
