By the end of his 2nd season, he will have 2 years with his QB and his system. Thats enough to see how things are trending. If its going well KF will announce that 2019 will be KF last season and BF will be the head coach in waiting.

I'll know after 4 games. What's this "seasons" nonsense? The guy knows everything about Iowa football. He knows the players. He knows the previous two play books inside and out. He knows what PP is doing on defense. He knows what KF wants. His tendencies will be apparent by the 5th game. More Snooze fest football or fresh, effective aggression.

That's actually a good question. To me it shouldn't take that long. If he's got more Bill B scratch where it itches than Greg D's horizontal small WRs break a tackle (hopefully but rarely) then he's "proven" himself.

Gotta give him a chance. After that crap we've had Brian at least gets the whole season. Sure he'll make some mistakes but so what. They all do. Hopefully it all works out because I think we're starting to see the recruiting pick up and that should help things overall.

Brian Ferentz is here to stay, at least until he has a son to come take over for him. Don't worry Grandma Marry will say it is okay and give him the nod.

I predict an aggressive style of football not seen on offense since Bill Snyder left. Boot to the throat all the way. If Brian wants to make his claim as the heir apparent to Kirk, short of adopting a version of the Air Raid BF has got to go all out.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but what historical evidence do we have to support this? I think it is just wishful thinking by all of us. Based on coaching structure of BF and KOK, I think it is fair to assume, just not guaranteed.

We'll have an idea by the end of the season what we have. It may take some time for things to gel, and to find out what tweaks work and which ones don't. And the W-L record may not be great (Penn St/Wisconsin/Ohio St all look like losses "on paper". @ Nebraska and @ NWestern won't be easy either) but the team will grow from week 1-13

Next year, we should see the biggest jump with a more seasoned QB and a year of experience for our stable of young talent.

Judgement will start being rendered during BF's first game and will continue as long as he's the OC. And it will probably switch back & forth several times over the course of a season.
