Point Guard

By legit I mean somebody that can actually guard an opposing teams center. Who on the roster for next season can do that besides him? The season after nobody. Do you guys honestly want Uhl playing the 5? I'm not sure he can even solidly play the 4 at this point until he gets stronger.

Not disagreeing with you. Just don't consider Woodbury legit.

Perhaps I should have used the word capable. ;)

I just fear Fran won't find a center and will have to rely on a project like Woody/Olaseni were as freshmen during 2016-2017. At least they are more than capable defenders compared to where they were as frosh.

If Fran can get a sure fire PG I say take him but that's doubtful until the 2016 class. So go with a position you can add depth to that is needed. I'm not saying just fill the roster though, I mean actually get a C prospect that can develop like Olaseni, or more preferably, find a JUCO or transfer that could contribute right away with the last scholarship.

Guards > Post.
Look to Story County as an example.

Guards are more important at the college level, I'm not disputing that, but you still need capable post depth. If you could keep White and Olaseni next year that would be different but they will be gone. This team will struggle mightily to defend the interior without another big when Woody is off the court next season. So yes, a big is much more important and I'm not changing my mind about that unless Uthoff gains 30 pounds of muscle and becomes capable of guarding opposing team's 5s.

I agree with you. We just can't have 4 "point guards" on the team next year and only 1 center.

The ONLY way Fran takes a PG next year is thru a graduating transfer, who can play right away. Or a decomit. Other than that, take the best scorer we can or bank it for 2016 and hope like heck.

Guards win championships. Keep that in mind...

I still say the center position is overrated. Look no further than the Cyclowns, they basically have Niang at 6-8 as their center nobody else taller plays significant minutes. And they don't suck. Well.... You know what I mean.... Point is, the position is not what it used to be...

Fran and staff need to make an all out push to find a JUCO or late bloomer to sign this spring or next year will be similar to this year. Need a guy with some "swag". Hopefully there's a few left out there.

Has to be a talented point guard struggling somewhere? Best player on the team?, Attitude problems? Kicked off the team?
It is time we start competing with our in-state rival for some of these kids.
