Podolak on Soundoff: Iowa looking more no huddle

We don't need Oregon's offense. We need the Patriot's offense.

On a side note, Soup is a better coach than Lester. Get his guys more touches!

We just need Iowa's 4th quarter offense. JVB looked very comfortable in the shotgun.

Yeah, Ed has a good source. His own eyeballs.

Ed has been to more practices this year than anytime in his broadcasting career, because he has not been to his Colorado home since February..he's been in Iowa City getting medical treatment, so he has been sharing the golf cart with Norm at practice since camp began.

JV looked better in the 2 MIN offense yesterday than he has all year. I think he reads better out if the shotgun and he calms down and plays by instincts in up tempo situations.

I would love to see Iowa change up tempo as they see fit, scratching where it itches, as Hayden used to say. We have the wrs to make plays that's for sure.

I'd reverse your carries, or maybe give Coker and Bullock even carries, but I definitely think JVB needs to be throwing it minimum 25-30x/game, or at least until they get a comfortable lead to revert to the conservative style we've come to know. Back to the Coker / Bullock issue, though, is that I'm almost leaning to Coker becoming a FB, or someone telling him to plan his foot, cut and go forward.

JVB had 21 pass attempts in our supposedly "conservative" first half. We gave away 45 yards with offensive penalties, missed two field goals, plus JVB threw a pick and missed a wide-open McNutt in the end zone on a beautifully designed play. It blows my mind that people are blaming offensive philosophy for the struggles in that half.

No way KF wants us to run the 2-minute offense exclusively like an Oregon.

That being said - mixing in a series with the 2 minute every once in awhile can be very effective. It's clear that they have practiced it as they looked very sharp running it. JVB appears to thrive in that style. We have tall athletic WRs on both ends.

Other teams would have to prepare for it as well. Pitt sure wasn't ready.

Couldn't agree more. He seemed in his element. Would love to see us "pass-first" cause JVB can clearly handle it.... Sweet that the offense as a whole, handled it nicely.

I'm not that concerned with the no huddle. But I do like seeing Vandy in the shotgun more often than not. And I would like to see less play action passes in the 3rd qtr. when down a ton. :)

Anybody else think we may see Zach Derby as the starter at TE? He has played much better than Herman so far this year.
