So they get shut down by some of the best defenses in the country while we get shut down by N'western, Minnesota, Indiana and Pitt and you think our offenses produce similar results?

I'd reverse your carries, or maybe give Coker and Bullock even carries, but I definitely think JVB needs to be throwing it minimum 25-30x/game, or at least until they get a comfortable lead to revert to the conservative style we've come to know. Back to the Coker / Bullock issue, though, is that I'm almost leaning to Coker becoming a FB, or someone telling him to plan his foot, cut and go forward.

Time will tell. I do agree with gliding though.
Iowa had opportunities to do this today and didn't. Iowa was forced into it today. They had no choice but to go no huddle they were down by 3 TD's with 18 minutes remaining. I sure hope Iowa uses it more this year and just not when forced.

I wouldn't call what Iowa generally does a pro style, at least not a modern pro style.
The two minuet offense is closer to a pro style than our normal I form.

You should read the first post of this thread, then you will see he said Iowa planned on using it earlier today but the situation didn't dictate itself to use it due to stupid penalties.

of course we all loved what we saw today, but ill have to see it implemented when not a necessity to believe it. Jvb was outstanding and his wrs made play after play.

And you think Vandy would be effective in a read-option offense? Coker?
We don't have the right players to run Oregon's offense. No way would we be better off running it.
It's not like a pro-style offense is impossible to win with. We've almost all said for years that the offense needs to be more aggressive, and be less predictable with the playcalling. If we did that, we probably aren't having this discussion.

The no huddle was the difference obviously and we should use moving forward. For the something different the other teams defense was out of gas and struggling to keep up.

The quote came directly from Ferentz on the radio in his post game interview with Dolphin and Eddie. He said it plain as day. I remember because my first comment to my buddy was to say, "yeah right. We did it because we had to, otherwise we would have done it earlier, or even started the game with it. Nice try Kirk." I do hope we see more of it, but I'm a bit skeptical. I don't necessarily need the hurry up, but I would like to see us become a pass first team. Our best players are James and the WRs, let's use them

Why do so many people think a hurry up mode with slot backs is the answer to the offense? It is not the style of this team. It's not the philosophy of the coaches. Obviously they don't practice the rushed offense unless it's in their 2 minute drill. We'll see Iowa back to their normal game plan and offense schemes next week and every game thereafter -- run first, play action, safe passes in the pocket or roll out, use up clock, don't take risks, trust the defense.

The Hawks showed a lot of heart yesterday! I would love to see the Hawks keep running the no-huddle similar to the 90's Bills with Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas, speed up the game
