Please leave up Rumor Threads

Instead of taking them down, just quarantine them to one place with a disclaimer that nothing in these threads are worth a crap. That way, post-mortem, we can ridicule and berate all the d-bags that spread all this ridiculous garbage.

Thank you.

Meanwhile, remove all the ones where people were telling the truth, just so we can hide the fact that sometimes people really do have actual knowledge of the situation, even if they can't confirm it because they're not university/media.

Um, the A-Rob rumors right, DJK rumors right, Hampton Rumors right

Lets paraphrase what was said.

Holes in drug testing policy.
U of I students administer drug tests (seriously)
will not get into results of drug tests

Lots of I don't know, I don't know

What did they actually disprove? If a player fails an internal test sounds like they can do counseling and avoid suspension.

Seems rumors were more true than false.

That said all schools have the same problems and holes, and because Iowa is pretty much a fish bowl because of no other major sport things are magnified 10x. If this happens at a USC, UT, etc, it never even gets to a press conference.

The next big thing on the horizon, what if the dealer will not take a plea bargain and wants to go to trial? I would guess the guy may have had a list of clients or phone numbers. Think the prosecution would want guys as witnesses saying the bought the stuff.

That said I would bet the farm that the case never ever goes to trial.

I'm fine leaving up all rumors; just put them in a Rumor Forum. That way the people that were right are prove right, the people that are flaming dip----s can be proven flaming dip----s, and the stuff that's gray will be left all gray.

My problem is that we can't go back and find out who was spreading total BS and who was spreading real info. I'd like to be able to do so, that way I can use precedence to know if someone is full of ---- or if they actually have some cred.

First off, there were no DJK rumors, he was arrested and it was reported on reputable news sites. When something is black and white it's not a rumor. Same goes for Hampton about leaving the team. He broke the story himself on his own FB page. As for him and A-Rob using drugs, we don't know what happened, but you may be right.

So I have to downgrade your most credible, hand-selected rumors to accuracy of A-rob rumors probably, DJK rumors not applicable, Hampton rumors not applicable/probably.

I have no idea how you jump to the conclusion that "rumors were more true than false" in light of the fact that we had rumors that were demonstably false such as more than 20 players will be suspended for drug use and that Ferentz will step down from coaching at this morning's presser.

At best, the rumor mill is a hodgepodge of truth and lies. At worst it was ridiculously false and ugly.

I, for one, would like to know who's actually had an ear to real info and who has been throwing around a bunch of total bull----.
