Please KOK

They sit on the ball to win games if they have to, and they could give two rips about people like you who get wrapped up in the stats. I for one am thankful of that!

So you're saying people who get wrapped up in stats can go....? Tell that to Miller he's the one who posted them. Aside from that as Jon also noted "Defense wins championships" - KOK is lucky he has Norm to carry the load for him.

I dont think he is trying to say "People who get wrapped up in stats can go .......". I think the point is that Iowa can win without racking up a ton of offensive stats. First of all, Kirk is not the type to run up the score. When they get a lead, they take the air out of the ball to chew up clock. This leads to lower offensive stats. It also drives all of us crazy by keeping the opponent in games.

This years team was heavy on defense. The defense kept us in every game and allowed us to win without a huge offensive explosion. Guess what? Next years defense will be better. The offense could be much better also once they figure out the o-line. The weapons are there for a huge offensive year. However, I would look to more of the same from the coaching staff and team next year. Control game, score enough to win, stifle the opponent into submission with defense.

"Guess what? Next years defense will be better."

thats a huge assumption.
Ummm, not really. I am "assuming" that everything starts up front. I saw complete domination by our d-line. All 4 are coming back. Yes, we are losing Angerer and Edds, but we also have several young lb's waiting to step in. I am sure they will fill in nicely and become quite good playing behind this d-line. The secondary we might lose Spievey. Even if he does leave, we have Bernstine ready to step in. He was the #2 corner ahead of Prater before he got hurt.
I stand behind what I said.....next year's defense will be better than this year's.

complete domination? you may have missed the OSU game.

Edds and Angerer will be very hard to replace.

No one has played Edds position better than he has in Norms defense.

No doubt. Having the front 4 back and potentially the entire secondary would help cover up some initial inexperience. I also think Tarp, Davis, and TN are all solid players that will fill the gaps well. Next years defense will be good...who knows just how good but i wouldnt bet against them :)

Yes I did miss that one. I was in Iraq at the time. Do you have a copy of it or know where I can get one? Thanks.

I do not have a copy but they replay it from time to time on the big ten network. Our defense got gouged for over 200 yards of rushing.

Thank you for your service.

Where in my post did I say that people who get wrapped up in stats must go???? Plus you blatantly ignored the 3 years I posted when we had GOOD offensive stats.

The long and short of it is when you have a great defense, which we have had for many years under Kirk, we game plan around the defense. In other words with a 3rd and 5 at the 50 yard line we take a shot downfield, because we don't mind punting, because we know the opponent can't drive the field. It is simply a game strategy/game plan put together by Kirk and the coaches during the week. You want to blame it all on KOK, and that is fine, he is a man he is over 40.
