Please Iowa fans, don't act like KC fans...

I would hope that there would be enough realization that if JVB goes down, there is only a very inexperianced backup to replace him. As bad as we think JVB has performed, him going down would not be a good thing. Unless you think throwing away this year to get ready for next year is a good thing.

I'm going to IC this weekend, I will:
-Be wearing a shirt that refers to the Penn State child rape scandal
-Not be cheering/booing if JVB goes down (I don't even know if I'll be at the game, likely not)

Maybe I have been poisoned by spending time here instead of going to games for the past 3 years, but with my data at hand, we have man loud and stupid fans who would take delight, nee, glee in a Vandenberg injury.
I don't believe this.

Ruddock is light years behind James V right now????? How could you say that since JV is the worst QB in college football? Are you saying we have the two worst QB'S in college football. I love you guys who still stand behind him, probably the sames ones that did not like Stanzi. You drinking too much of the coolaid. There is no way it could be worse with him out. It does not get any worse than this. Did you miss the part where he has two td passes on the year and 3 picks? Thats six games done. He is getting worse and its only going to get worse for him. I would take Jake with open arms at this point.

until his first pass is a INT. He is light years behind Vandy right now.

OH-M-G! I don't think Einstein could fathom that Rudock or Sokol are "light years behind" this:
1st series: interception
2nd series: 3-out (5-yards to KMM on 3rd & 9)
3rd series: 3-out (0-yards to RayH on 3rd & 2)
4th series: 3-out (3 rushes)
5th series: 3-out (incomplete-incomplete-sack)
6th series: field goal (JVB=3 of 6 but, with 3rd & goal, goes incomplete)
7th series: 3-out (complete for 9 to KD, incomplete, scramble for 0)
8th series: 1-first down (2 rushes x Weisman); 3-out (incomplete and scramble for 5 on 3rd & 11)
9th series: 3-out (complete for 6, MW rush for 1, incomplete)
10th series @ 2:48 left in 3rd:
JVB actually contributes to the drive a bit, going 5/8 for 26 yards. Most of drive is Weisman (40 yds-5 carries). Alas, 3rd & 8 on MSU 10and JVB goes for 3 to KD (man, wouldn't it be great if Hawks had a 6'7" TE to just lob it to with this field position ...)
11th series: 3-out (incomplete-incomplete-complete for 5 ... on 3rd & 10)
12th series: 2 for 2 including 35 yds to KD. (Weisman rushed for 46 on 6 carries).

So JVB = 19 of 36 (53%). Of those, I counted 4 that actually resulted in a 1st down. It was nearly 3 full quarters before JVB did anything that was a meaningful contribution to a drive and 6 series before he did anything that didn't kill a drive.

How could it possibly be worse than this???

Well.......... he didn't stab any of the linemen.....there's that.

For the last time I will not go on a date with you. Please accept no for an answer.

Not a Chiefs fan but live in KC..

I could see this happening, if JVB should get hurt, Iowa fans cheering..ala KC fans....I hope we're better than that...
just remember, this is the same QB that led that awesome comeback against Pitt....he's got "it" in him....stay behind our QB fans,
I beg you not to let this turn into another Jake C. situation....

and the portrayal of the KC fans by the national media is disgraceful. Context is all-important here. KC has gone 20 years without a playoff win, all the while they sell out the stadium most of the time, forked over the money for stadium renovations and generally supported the team all the while. They were sold a bill of goods by Pioli and the Chiefs' backing of Cassell no matter how poor his play. At most, there were a smattering of fans who were cheering, and those who did were cheering the fact that Quinn was coming in the game, not that Cassell was hurt. I was in a restaurant during the Chiefs-Ravens game when Cassell got hurt and no one in the place was happy Cassell was hurt, they were happy a different QB was coming in and they might have a CHANCE to move the ball and win the game.

Vandenberg doesn't deserve booing no matter what happens. If that occurs, I will not be happy. He hasn't played well this year. Period. That doesn't mean that fans won't let out some collective groans if a pass 5 yards from the line of scrimmage is over the receiver's head or hits his feet.

This. It was only a story because Eric Winston is full of crap. If he doesn't talk to the media then this isn't even a news story. It was only hundreds or maybe 1000 fans out of 70,000 - 75,000 fans that were cheering.

I could. You think it's hard to imagine a bunch of liquored up, game-thread coaches-in-the-stands wouldn't do this?

This. The fact that its pretty obvious what most the people on here as well as the majority of hawkeye fans in the stadium think of James. The only chance that Rudock getting any meaningful snaps would come about as the result of an injury. As much as I love our fanbase, a drunk student section and thousands of others that think he's personally done something to them, I definitely hear boos in the event Vandy would go down.

Hope it wouldn't happen, but think it does if it would happen.

1000 fans didn't make that much noise. There were a lot of fans cheering his head injury.

The vast majority of the fans weren't cheering the injury. Winston even admitted that after his tirade. If you want to say 1000-5000 or 5000-10000 go ahead. It's only a story because Winston went off like he did.

He could make a few more plays but instead of one turnover he could have 3.
I agree that the QB position is letting the team down right now but it could be worse. Unless Sokol or Ruddock have improved greatly since fall he was the best as these two were very Int happy. The only glimmer of hope I have that the QB position might approach mediocrity next year is that Ferentz is stubborn to a fault about benching a player and that if given a chance either one of these guys might be better in practice than in games. I highly doubt this however.
