Places to stay

I used to have a deal at one of the hotels in town but I guess they changed the rules this year. My question is I need a hotel for fri/Sat for all the home games(right now Im set for week one). Does anyone know of deals as far as booking for the whole season or a place close by that is a good deal. Not too picky as far as how nice the place is. I am coming from Michigan so we have stayed in the Quad Cities but that is no fun for 11am games. Thanks

Good Luck all hotels are sold out for every home game. we have tried every hotel in IC and even in West Branch and still nothing. We did finally get one for the Ball State Game, and it is a Super 8 and they are asking 250.00 a night to stay there! WOW, we said not thanks and we are just gonna drive back and forth! I can't believe they would jack up their prices that much.

Alot of the hotels told us to call back the week of the game, and they should have openings. One lady said the U of Iowa calls and books a bunch of rooms at several hotels to accomodate visitors and what not. But 250 a night i will gladly stay sober and drive home!

Price, meet Demand. ;)

Just use a site like Hotels.com to book your hotel. If you book a Friday with a Saturday, 6 out of the 7 home games still have rooms. The Penn State one will be a tough one to get.

We always stay at Riverside Casino. Very nice. If you are a gambler, they will always have a room for you.

I just booked a room 5 days ago for the night of the Eastern Illinois game at the Super 8 in Coralville for 145 dollars and change after all taxes and fees. Booked it through Super 8's website.

That is the way it is in IC on game days now. All motels have special pricing just for the games and most make you do 2 nights also. You should try Cedar Rapids. It is only a 1/2 hr. away if you get one near the 33rd Ave. exit. There are also motels on the north end of town on Collins Rd.

I don't know what dates you're looking at, but there is no "wide-open" availability.

I just looked at Priceline for Fri/Say of the Penn State Game. ZERO availability across the board in IC.

I just checked priceline and there are pretty good deals and wide open availability

Generally speaking, most (if not all) hotels in the Iowa City/Coralville area either will be, or are already sold out for the home game weekend. If you can find a room, you're lucky and if you can find a room, it won't be cheap.

Cedar Rapids/Davenport, etc. Shouldn't be a problem.

Usually have 2 but up to 6. I think if there are no deals we will probaly stay in the Quad Cities and make the hour trip into our tailgate in the wee hours. Thanks for all the replys. Pretty sure you can ROCK OUT WITH YOUR HAWK OUT anywhere.

I just booked a room at a hotel in Cedar Rapids. $84/night two queen beds. I'll be driving back to Minnesota so I just want a cheap place to sleep so I don't fall asleep while driving home. It's only 20 miles from Iowa City so it will be just like driving from the south side of Des Moines to the north side.
