Is Fran McCaffery underpaid in comparison to his peers and when do you expect Iowa to extend him?

Part #1 , How are our 5 recruits for next year doing now ??

part # 2 , How is C J progressing , as well as our 3 med red shirts from this year

How does Joe Wieskamp’s stats this year compare to his freshman season? Is he progressing or regressing?

Will record once I get kids off to school and some coffee in me. Still some time to get in questions if you have any.

The answers:

1) Yes. He's 11th out of 14

2) At the absolute weirdest possible time, under the weirdest possible circumstances whether one is in favor of an extension or not.

If we get blown out in the first round by 46 points Barta will announce a 10 year, $50 million dollar extension at 3:17AM the following Wednesday; if we make it to the NCAA finals he'll wait until November 6th to announce a 2 year, $2 million dollar extension right after the yearly tennis media day when half of the two reporters who showed up have gone home.

It is obvious how teams are scheming against Iowa now with CJ out. With the 3 headed monster gone, I think teams are fine letting Garza get his 25 pts as he's shown to be unstoppable anyway.

Teams are keying on stopping Wieskamp and are being physical with him.

Wieskamp needs to shoot the basketball from 3pt land. He’s had opportunities he’s just decided to put it on the deck instead. He really doesn’t need a lot of space to be open with his height and long arms.

Once he knocks down a couple threes it will open up other things. He’s getting more attention for sure. but a lot of his struggles in the last couple games were self inflicted.

Compare Frans seasons. Is this years successful season more of an anomaly compared to previous years or vise versa? Are the previous years where they faltered more of an anomaly? Is this season really the norm for a Fran coached team? Which Fran is it? Do we have a good grasp of his success and how do we foresee the future.

Was Frans past 3 teams strapped with personnel that really didn't fit his style? Garza has a more polished inside and outside game than what we had in the post the prior several years. Was he always a better coach than what those teams showed, or again, is this years team an anomaly because you have Garza on it playing lights out? What would this team look like without Garza?

Fran has been at Iowa now for 10 years, and this year's team is one that one can say they really found and have an identify. That has not always been the case with Fran's teams at Iowa. Most his teams really never had an identify. Most played bad defense including not closing out on 3 pt shots very well. Most his teams had a very deep bench with many arguing too many players to manage creating team consistency issues. He's been forced to play with a shorter bench this year and has done a good job.

Is the jury still kind of out on Fran in a way?

Even getting the shots up if he misses would help. They still have to treat him as a threat and go out on him. He has to not put a lot of pressure on himself and play loose, even when he misses. He needs to understand this is a unique year with all the suits on the end of the bench and just go balls out.
