Pierre Jackson and Darius Smith - videos

Both are guards for CSI, a JUCO playing at Nationals in Kansas.... Iowa has interest. Jackson is getting a lot of attention from the big boys, Smith is too. UNC has interest in both, for example.

It looks like Darius Smith Marshall was meant to play in Fran's system. He runs the floor fast but under control. He looks like a good player to get. As for Pierre Jackson, the video is so terrible it is hard to see much from that. I could tell he has good passing skills and can get his shot off, but it didn't look like the defense was contesting him much either.

I saw the same thing. If I had to choose just from seeing those videos I would say Darius Smith but like you said the quality of Pierre Jacksons video is so bad it's kind of hard to compare.

Oh no Smith is no good he can't tomahawk dunk from the free throw line two handed.
It was HS video but he looked nice and smooth handling the ball etc. etc. would be a good player for Iowa if he would come.
Hmmm UNC looking at Juco guards?
Jackson looks like a good get as well.

can you simplify your post? I'm not sure what you're saying.

Darius Smith had a car accident last fall, which set him back at the beginning of the season...I presume he has recovered completely?
If so, then Smith would be a good addition at Iowa. He is more of an all-court player who could comfortably play the 1,2 or 3 position.
He was a great defender at Marshall, started all 4 years on some great teams, and is the nephew of all time Illinois womens high school record holder for wins,Coach Dorothy Gators. I saw him play many times on tv ,and he always impressed me as a selfless player who would be a nice addition to our guard rotation. Does everything well.

A. Sarcasm as we seem to need MJ to commit for people to be happy.
B. Impressed with both Smith and Jackson but it was vids from HS. Just watched them play in the D1 juco tournament in Ks and they both look good but Jackson would be the first pick of the two based on that game for the PG position.
C.Interesting UNC would be looking for juco G's with Paige from CR commited to them.Maybe he should rethink staying home and playing for Iowa.

I see Smith as a combo, which to me is fine, because we do have Cully as a backup at pg. I think we need a good defender on the perimeter also, and Smith is very good at that.

And yes, Roy Williams has a star frosh pg in Kendall Marshall, has Paige coming in 2012,and is recruiting 2013 star pg out of LaCrosse Wis.,Koenig, also. So,maybe he has no star pg coming in 2011,hence he is out looking for one. Everyone knows that UNC always needs to have 4 star pgs at all times....pig.

Paige is class of 2012, correct? It makes sense for UNC to explore the JUCO system as they have ample scholly's available with the twins (can't remember their names) transferring to UCLA after last year, and then Larry Drew Jr. leaving the team mid-season this year. The JUCO's would be seniors when Paige steps on the floor, giving him a year to possibly redshirt.

I'm not surprised at all to see Roy going after JUCO help.

So would I Burky just being detailed I guess. Both did seem to shy away from the 3 though.

I am fine with them not shooting 3 point shots. I prefer players who can get to the hole as you can't teach getting to the hole but you can have a kid shoot 500 shots a day and improve his shooting. Just look at Gatens and May, they have no ability to get to the hole and can't develope/learn that.

We have enough guys to jack up 3 point shots next year: Gatens, Ogelsby, May, White... I would prefer to have more play makers off the bounce as Cartwright is the only guy who falls into that category. Given the right match up Marble can find a way to create becuase he is a basketball player taht is long rather than just pure quickness with the ball.

Both players look very quick. Are we looking for just one of them or both of them? They obviously play great together, just look at their stats. But anymore, I almost don't care who we get as a point guard, as long as we get somebody.
