Pickin on the Big Ten: Legends & Leaders Week Two

IOWA (-7) @ IOWA STATE

It’s a good thing college football players aren’t paid for their efforts because if they were Iowa could never afford the worker’s comp on its running backs. Starter Marcus Coker was benched last week after two fumbles in favor of Mika’il McCall who, in typical Iowa running back fashion, ran like a monster and suffered a season-ending injury.

Iowa State, meanwhile, struggled mightily against Northern Iowa last week. Iowa has already proved that almost losing to Northern Iowa is no impediment to making it to a BCS bowl, so you can’t hold that against the Clones. What you can hold against them is the performance of their offensive line, which former ISU lineman called the worst performance he’d ever seen.

Then again, the Hawkeyes were up against an FCS o-line last week and only rung up one sack.

I think all of this is a wash. It’s a rivalry game, it’s being played in Ames, and the Clones have historically played over their heads in this game. The talent level on the two teams is not even close and Iowa State just doesn’t have enough defense to stop the Hawkeyes. Especially if, unlike last week, Iowa doesn’t have to play inside a car wash. Iowa 30, Iowa State 13.

Joe Byrd: Iowa State hasn’t scored a meaningful touchdown against Iowa in the Paul Rhoads era. That streak continues and Iowa rolls…24-3
Adam Kramer: Iowa will cover
Jon Miller: Iowa will cover
Note to Iowa State fans, assuming any are reading this: Not only did your team play poorly last week, all four of us are predicting Iowa will cover. A 63-6 Cyclone victory is now guaranteed.

This sentence made me LOL, then cry, then laugh again.

Mark's line about Iowa not being able to afford the worker's comp was funny, yet sad at the same time.

I have a hard time seeing ND fall to 0-2. Also, I'm already starting to not like Brady Hoke.

It's hard for me to see Michigan losing this game at the Big House. And I agree, Hoke is easy to dislike...at Big Ten kickoff, I wrote about that...arrogant.

ND turned the ball over 5 times last week, if they don't turn the ball over multiple times tomorrow I think they beat UM by a TD+
