Phil Steele's Iowa Preview

What a bland preview. "...could start 5-0 with a chance to top last year's 7 win total." Way to go out on a limb there, Philbert.

So does a 8-4 team translate into 38th ranking?

Probably most years. Look at most years final rankings. Last year 9-4 Neb and FSU were ranked in top 25.

#27 8-5 Missouri
#28 8-5 TX
#29 8-5 Aub
#30 9-4 Rutgers
#31 9-4 PSU
#32 7-6 TX A&M,
#33 8-5 VA,
#34 7-6 Wash
#36 7-6 FL
#38 7-6 Miss T
#40 8-5 Notre Dame

Why does he talk so much about 09 and 10? Those teams have nothing to do with this years team. Last year yes, Ricki Stanzi? Why the hell would that matter?

He does this, goes back the past 4-5 years on each team. I think it's more to target the average casual CFB consumer that may not follow teams as closely.

This was much cooler back in the day before everything was available quickly on the Internet.

Wow if I wanted a history lesson on what happen with Adam Robinson & Mitch King I would've read something else. Phil Steele is garbage this year, must've been sick and just post crap about the past

One Phil Steele indicator of success is number of O-line returns and total number of starts.

Year in and year out it has been spot on.

Iowa did lose a bunch of those starters and total starts.

Maybe this year will be a bit of an outlier.. given Ferentz at center and the best and deepest talent Iowa has had in many years...

only hope and 8 big W's/

10-2 schedule plus an 8-4 team according to my mathematical calculations should result in a 9-3 record at seasons end. having said that, we'll probably lose to minnesota and purdue, beat msu and nebraska, and we'll end up with some totally random record.

If we did that, I could live with it...as long as we beat Michigan also,to win the Legends. Throw in a loss to ISU,but go 6-2 and play in the Big Ten title game...I will not complain ...too much.

Here is my Phil Steele Iowa preview. Ricky Stanzi had a really good two years at Iowa. Remember Shon Greene? That guy was good as well. There are some new guys on the team. Iowa usually does well as the underog. If they play well they could win more games than last year.
