Phil Steel Bowl Projection: Jacksonville vs Ole Miss

Wisconsin.... what a waste of a bowl. Wiscy needs to be in Jax playing old miss.

Here is how Palm lines up the Big Ten. Cotton: Ohio State vs. Arizona

Peach: Michigan State vs. TCU
Fiesta: Wisconsin vs. Boise State
Citrus: Minnesota vs. Missouri
Outback: Maryland vs. Georgia
TaxSlayer: Iowa vs. Ole Miss
Foster Farms: Rutgers vs. USC
Holiday: Nebraska vs. UCLA
Pinstripe: Penn State vs. Duke
Heart of Dallas: Illinois vs. Marshall -

I see maybe one or two wins for the B1G in those match ups.

Re: Phil Steele Bowl Projection: Jacksonville vs Ole Miss

You are correct about Iowa fans traveling this year. The only bowl game that has a chance at attracting any fans is the Music City.

Jerry Palm is also predicting Iowa - Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl.

The Music City Bowl would select a Big Ten, each of the next 6 years, if they could.
They are splitting between the ACC and the Big Ten the next 6 years.

It looks like Louisville (ACC) will be available to the Music City, so they would not play 1 of their 3 Big Ten cards, this year.
Most ACC teams have fan bases that don't travel, well, and Louisville is 3 hours away (close enough to sell tickets and far enough to sell hotel rooms)
The Music City Bowl would go ACC vs. and SEC team, which may be Tennessee.

Still feel that Jacksonville will be the spot, as we haven't played there since the Ice Bowl game in 1983.

I want to play someone good, that way we won't get embarrassed by a team like Tulsa. Can you ever imagine losing to someone like Tulsa in a bowl game? That would be awful.

Seriously though, with KF and GD running the show, I'm not sure who we can beat right now. Any chance we can play a school from Illinois again?

Why does BTN rip off the CBS bowl picks every week?

I bet it feels similar to losing to a garbage program like 2-10 Iowa State 3 out of the last 4 years.

FWIW, here is what Iowa's Davis-led offense would be dealing with against Ole Miss's D:

All the above teams have slaughter house written all over it which is GOOD! This means we are closer to the end than further as Jon and Steve keep saying. Bury the son of a witch and be done with his mess!

No matter the bowl this year, Iowa fans will not travel well. Apathy has set in with the fan base. 5,000 or less Hawk fans is my prediction. Half of them will go just for the possible warmer weather if it's in Florida. The stadium was not full against Nebraska and several stated it's because the students were at home for Thanksgiving. I must say, for other games we watched over the weekend that mattered, the stadiums had no problem having a full student section. Quit making pathetic excuses for this program. The students were not there because Iowa football is beyond boring or fun to watch.

In our family we have gotten to the point of watching the game on TV just to predict the plays Iowa is going to run in certain formations. Or, in the case of a game like Friday to watch Iowa go in scared turtle mode once they get ahead by 2 TD's. As Iowa scored to make it 24-7, I immediately told my son Iowa was going conservative and the result would not be good. Sadly I was correct. Also as sad I was laughing when Bell caught the TD pass. I'm way past the point of getting mad. The result Friday is what I expect form this staff.

Iowa football is slowly heading in a direction towards Indiana and Purdue. They're a ways from being there of course, but make no mistake they're heading that way slowly and painfully.

You didn't watch the games from Madison or Columbus, did ya? Yes, they had pockets open... Shocked me yes.

That said, iowa won't travel as well as they typically do. Probably more than your 5k prediction, but a far cry from the 20k that had become more common than not

I don't believe so, they are an FCS school, formerly 1AA. So they are not able to play in any of the bowls that Iowa will be in. The system changes so often, but I believe that it could not happen.

I did see something interested. Iowa could get a gator bowl rematch against Florida. I want to get back at those bums so much! Even if it is basically a road game.

And Iowa will be the poster child if they play Ol' Miss. I won't even bother recording it, let alone watching. Same as last year vs LSU.

It would have been brutal if Zach Mettenberger was at QB for LSU.

Family went down to Tampa for the Outback Bowl weekend, this past January.
We ended up driving back to Nashville, after the Ybor City parade.

My Spidey-senses were telling me that this game would not be fun to watch.
Then, it rained when I don't recall, rain, even being in the forecast.
