Phil Steel Bowl Projection: Jacksonville vs Ole Miss

Wow, this is going to get ugly, if true!
CJ Beathard, originally, committed to Ole Miss.
For now, I'm sure he regrets that decision.

Sweet baby Jesus, we don't want that matchup.

How the heck would that even be a possible matchup. A top 15 team vs. #45ish???

Projections the previous weeks have had us in San Diego or Santa Clara playing UCLA or Arizona State.
We lost to a 2-9 Iowa State and should have lost to Ball State, so anything, besides the Tennessee School for the Blind will be a brutal match-up.

I like our chances. They just aren't the same since their star wide receiver went down against Auburn. Plus they run a pro style scheme that matches up to our strong defense. I think Vegas will have us as four point dogs, but sure to cover.

Seems like it would be very similar to the '10 game between 7-5 Iowa and 10-2 Missouri. The major difference is that this Iowa team doesn't have nearly the talent that Iowa team did.

I don't see a whole lot of possible matchups out there that Iowa can expect to win. that said, if they show up and upset someone, somehow, it will remind us all of 2010 win over Mizzou. But it won't make us forget the team that at times smelled like poo.

You serious? Ole Miss is a top-5 team in several computer rankings. Even without Treadwell, Iowa would be a 14+ point underdog on a neutral field.

Can't we get a bowl against a MAC or Sun Belt team lined up? After watching what our offense did against LSU last year, I honestly don't want to see us play against a decent SEC or PAC 12 team until the Davis tenure is over with.

Oh, and Jacksonville would be anything but neutral. That place is like heaven compared to Mississippi and it ain't far, so probably 50,000 Ol' Miss fans would be there, compared to maybe 600 for Iowa (assuming we could take the marching band).

Which, apparently, is where CJ "actually" committed to before flipping to Iowa, if you believe kfootball and his description of CJ's practice performances.

There is so much fail in this post I don't even know where to start. If I was running this board I'd ban you on principal for being this clueless.

No matter the bowl this year, Iowa fans will not travel well. Apathy has set in with the fan base. 5,000 or less Hawk fans is my prediction. Half of them will go just for the possible warmer weather if it's in Florida. The stadium was not full against Nebraska and several stated it's because the students were at home for Thanksgiving. I must say, for other games we watched over the weekend that mattered, the stadiums had no problem having a full student section. Quit making pathetic excuses for this program. The students were not there because Iowa football is beyond boring or fun to watch.

In our family we have gotten to the point of watching the game on TV just to predict the plays Iowa is going to run in certain formations. Or, in the case of a game like Friday to watch Iowa go in scared turtle mode once they get ahead by 2 TD's. As Iowa scored to make it 24-7, I immediately told my son Iowa was going conservative and the result would not be good. Sadly I was correct. Also as sad I was laughing when Bell caught the TD pass. I'm way past the point of getting mad. The result Friday is what I expect from this staff.

Iowa football is slowly heading in a direction towards Indiana and Purdue. They're a ways from being there of course, but make no mistake they're heading that way slowly and painfully.

Tickets for Wisconsin were $10 the day of the game on StubHub.
$25 the day of the Nebraska game on StubHub.
Apathy has set in.

I went to the Sun Bowl in 1997 after that disappointed season, and there might have been 4,000 Iowa fans in El Paso.
I was also there in 1995, when we played Washington, and there were probably 15,000 Iowa fans, in attendance.

The University is going to eat thousands of bowl tickets this December.

You are correct about Iowa fans traveling this year. The only bowl game that has a chance at attracting any fans is the Music City.

I could make the drive to Nashville and Jax isn't all that far either... I won't do it. No freeking way.
