Phil Parker?

Just read on the Husker board that Phil Parker is interviewing for the Ole Miss DC job for twice the salary. Not sure if true... Regardless, I’m thinking this is the coach we can least afford to lose.

Ok...your first mistake is going to the Husker board. The second mistake is believing any said about Iowa. It's always going to have a negative slant. When Fant signed with Iowa, there was an article on Husker Nation about how he had one leg shorter than the other and any time he made a cut to the right, he would fall down. I didn't see any of that in three years at Iowa...so I stopped believing anything they say.

They were convinced that Scott Frost was the messiah and all he turned out to be was a whiney, overpaid bitch who couldn't beat any of the good teams they faced. His signature win was a beaten down MSU team whose offense resembled the Rockne era Notre Dame teams...3 yards and cloud of dust.

Wishful thinking on their part. We are living rent free in their heads after winning four in a row. These are the same people that have a long thread going called, "When 4-8 is not the same thing as 4-8". They are delusional.

This is a recent article out there showing Parker as one of 7 candidates to be "rumored" as being on Mississippi's DC list after the recent firing of their DC. The narrative says he's a long shot since he has no ties to SEC country. Article says nothing about being interviewed or even being contacted.

My source inside the program has said the same thing. Also told the top two candidates to replace him, but I can't reveal their names. Their first names are Steven and James, but that's all I'm giving.

Well this won't fair well with the First Family of football and their egos.

Expect Brian to get as big as a raise as Phil as he tells Barry that he interviewed to be Saban's new OC. :p

Double the salary would put Balki in Top 5 of all assistant head coaches/coordinators.
Can't see that.
Then again, Ole Miss just paid MTSU head coach, Kermit Davis, $2.5M/year to become their head basketball coach.

No way anyone in the SEC would take Phil. He's too old and doesn't know the right palms to grease down there. Plus, it will take close to a generation to clean up the shitstain Bielema left at Arkansas, so unless a guy is an up and coming position coach or that year's best young coach, he ain't landing anything in the SEC. Maybe a guy like Leonhard would get a shot at DC at a mid tier program, but the older guard would not.

Phil ain't going nowhere. He and Kirk are like Bros. When Kirk goes maybe Phil goes then, but probably to retirement or to coach high school ball somewhere and have some real fun with kids.

The one that may leave in near future is Seth Wallace in my opinion. How long does he hang before he feels need to be a DC? Does Parker tell him to hang on til he retires (probably when Kirk does)?

Wuut!? Nebby fans read into something to make their own story to fit their desires. SHOCKER!!

He wouldn't have to grease any palms, much less know what palms need greasing. They got an entire staff dedicated to that, with no ties to the University or the coaches. They're like the Ninjas of bag men. You won't see them but they're out there.

No way, he’s been here 20 yrs. He’s not leaving for a dumpster fire at ole miss. He’ll get a nice pay raise and be back next year. He and Kirk will retire together and Brian and Wallace will pilot the 8-4 ship into 3rd place in the B10 west for another 20 yrs until football becomes extinct north of the mason Dixon line from head injuries.
