is maturing right before our eyes and it is exciting to watch.

He really dedicated himself this past summer in many aspects, not just basketball. He has transformed his body, mind and game.

Love watching him start driving to the basket. Continuing to develop that part of his game is what will get him to the next level. He can already shoot obviously.

Kudos to the coach/staff who is helping with his development.

He has been the biggest reason for our success so far IMO.

Jok feels like the most reliable 3-point shooter, since McCausland's 98-99 season.
At least, I'm no longer hearing the phrase, "but he hits them in practice" ad nauseum.

Would you believe he is still playing professionally over seas?

But yes, it is nice to have a sharp shooter from long range.

Wasn't that long ago when he was being recruited and some people wanted to pass on him and yes he had some knee injuries but as some stated, the upside was huge.

Enjoying the upside.

With the season he is having I'm sure NBA scouts will start noticing.

I don't see Pete going anywhere. If he keeps it up the NBA will start to take notice...especially with a deep NCAA run. But Buddy Hield came back and I think it's safe to say he has improved his draft position and his game compared to last year.

Next year is a dream for Pete...Fran telling him to take the majority of the shots. I think it will be rare (next season) that we are on here saying Pete should have shot more in any particular game. He will only have to be told once to pull the trigger every chance he gets.

As good as he's been the last half dozen games or so he's not NBA ready just yet. Not to the point where he should leave school early for it anyway. I think he can get there though. Guy is coming into his own for sure and that is probably the most fun thing for us and coaches to see. This is what everyone saw coming his freshman yr of HS or so before he got hurt. Is it too bad it's taken this long for him to get to this point? Eh maybe but not really. If anything it's that much bitter sweet. He's had to really work at it to get here. I'm sure coming from where he and his family has he'd have it no other way. His brother is quite a guy. Couldn't be more impressed with him. I do seem to remember some politicking gong on when he transferred from Roosevelt to WDM. I can't remember if it was coach drama or what but I know some where upset about how it went anyway.

His greatest transformation, imo, is his defense. His freshman year was bad. Really bad. He's made more progress on defense than anyone I can think of.

The blessing of his injury is he's had to mature, work harder, focus, set goals. These things will serve him well in life in more ways than just basketball. I'm happy for his success and it's nice to know we don't have to hear from cyfans about how he wasn't good enough for their program. Count it all joy.

He's made progress on defense but he still defends with his arms down often. Maybe Fran told him he should just put his trigger hand in the holster to preserve his touch at the other end :)

I don't know how many years I've watched other teams and thought man, I wish we had a guy who could shoot like that. Finally we do. Not that Iowa hasn't had some good shooters over the years, but it's been awhile since we had anyone in the same neighborhood as Jok.......or Uthoff for that matter.

It wasn't the coach. And it wasn't Pete. But that's water under the bridge. I agree with what others are saying about his smooth shot and his defense. I'm also surprised at how much stronger he's gotten. His arms are noticeably bigger and more defined. And it's great to see him have the elevation back that he had as a freshman in high school.

It was quite the deal for awhile though... I think the Roosevelt coach was pretty mad at was it Joks guardians and or WDMs coach? Was it Horner at that time or someone else? I could be remembering that wrong too.

There was a lot of drama for sure. One of the best players on the team was on the fence about playing his senior year...the year after it happened. He didn't want to deal with all of the drama...but did ultimately play and had a great senior year.

I noticed that in the NW game, too. I also noticed that he wasn't the only one doing that. Whoever is at the point of the 1-2-2, Uthoff, Baer, Jok -- all have their arms down. Makes me think they are coached to do that.

Peter has come along way, but where he is truly lacking is his ball handling. He actually seems a bit uncoordinated when handling especially in transition. If he can get a handle on that situation, wow this kid could be truly amazing.
